Bengals try to right ship

Captain Michael Abrashoff, author of "It's Your Ship," spoke to the Bengals in a team meeting Monday.

Abrashoff, captain of the USS Benfold, had struck up a friendship with Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis after Lewis had read the book. Quarterback Carson Palmer gave Lewis the book after Palmer had received a copy of the book from his father, Bill Palmer.

The full title is "It's Your Ship: Management Techniques from the Best Damn Ship in the Navy."

"He made everybody feel important," Carson Palmer said when asked for the primary message the captain delivered. "The guy on the ship who dealt with all the sewage ... they all had ownership of what was going on on the ship."

He drew that parallel to a football team: Everyone is important, whether it is a special teams player or a backup defensive back.

Bill Palmer sent the book to Carson after he read it. New England coach Bill Belichick has built some of his coaching principles on the book, Carson Palmer said.

Is Carson's comment about the guy taking responsibility for the sewage a reference to the defense or the Brown family?

BLAHH, BLAHH, BLAHH,,,enough of this BS! This team doesn't need any more motivational speakers, if you get humiliated on national TV as a true professional that is all the motivation you need! hey instead of bringing in a speaker how about bringing in football players who aren't made of paper! How about some Def guys that can knock the snot out of people, it isn't that rare just look at any other team in the NFL. Two weeks ago everybody was gonna come back...lol maybe October 08! I tought in the NFL they paid you enough that if you can't do further injury to yourself you take a injection and you play! Brooks seems to be a 6-4 260lbs skirt, 3wks on a groin pull? Chatman a hamstring for 9+ months? Tab Perry hamstring 3wks? Are you kidding me...weak as water!!!! Anybody got Steve Tovar's #

Which chapter in the book provides direction and insight as to how to guide a boat to safe harbor when it is in the middle of a shit-storm and SINKING?

Give Mike Brown a copy of Mutiny on the Bounty!
