Time doesn't heal all wounds

The Bengals returned from their three-day bye weekend break and hit the field inside Paul Brown Stadium at 4:15 this afternoon for practice.

Several key players are still on the sideline with injury, including starting tailback Rudi Johnson (hamstring) and middle linebacker Ahmad Brooks (groin). Fellow linebacker Rashad Jeanty, whom the Bengals were hopeful to have returning after the bye, was on the field in cleats and with his ankles taped. He did not have his jersey or helmet. Linebacker Caleb Miller (back) was on the sidelines, too.

Starting linebacker Landon Johnson (eye) and center Eric Ghiaciuc (thumb) appeared to be practicing fully. (The Bengals are not obligated to create an injury report today and have chosen not to.)

Right tackle Willie Anderson (heel, knee) was not on the field. His assigned parking spot was empty outside the stadium in the players' lot.

Also not practicing: center Alex Stepanovich, safety Ethan Kilmer (knee) and defensive end Jonathan Fanene (knee).

On the field, though, were wide receivers Chad Johnson (ankle) and T.J. Houshmandzadeh (knee).

Head coach Marvin Lewis had his cast removed and was walking without crutches. He had undergone surgery to repair torn ankle tendons in August.

It doesn't matter who is, or is not injured with this team. Their defense is terrible. There is no pressure on the passer, they can't stop the run, they can't cover anybody, the special teams are a joke and they can't run the ball.

Listened to a sports talk radio show this afternoon. The host said injuries play no role in how a team plays. Whether they win or lose. Injuries happen to every team. He emphasized wins Sunday by the Colts, Ravens. and Steelers as examples. He said Bengals fans whine too much about injuries to the team and assume that other teams don't have the same problem. Said Bengals fans were illogical and need to move on.

Does anyone have a counter argument for this sports talk guy?

5:18 - A LITTLE HARSH.

Watson is averaging 5+ yards a carry.

The defense is always up and down. We'll give up 500 yards one week; - Hadrian's wall the next.

If the O line can get fit and effective, the run game will improve, the pass game will get even better and the other team's offense will spend less time on the field. All is far from lost. A good game against the Chiefs and we're right back in it.

Although, those Stealers do look VERY good!

Bengals are bad, really bad. The defense is banged up at linebacker only. They have had their starting linemen and secondary in all year so to say the defense is banged up is misleading. It will be these same losers at the front four all year, so don't expect too much pressure on the QB.
On the other side of the ball, you have the mouth that meows. Sure Chad puts up gaudy numbers, but he is a liability on this team. His YAC's are horrendous because he is scared to get hit. Every route, unless he breaks free, ends with him diving to avoid a hit and forget about downfield blocking. The guy takes plays off, pouts, and is a general pain, and this is usually for the biggest games. That interception against NE, was because he didn't want to run the route inside of Samuels out of fear. That was an inside read, but it would have meant Samuels could have lit him up, so he took an outside route, and knew it the second he did it, that's why he grabbed Samuel's sleeve.
This is the kind of stuff Curnutte or Daugherty should be giving you who dey head, west side alcoholics, but don't.

Brown's Clowns is the name my Steelers friends and I have coined for these idiots. The BenGALS have turned the NFL into the WWE. Here is a player by player run down of the Marvin Lewis traveling circus:
Chad- the mouth- who knows how to paint him, one quarter he is happy clown, the next pouty clown, then the one after that he may be sleepy clown. Maybe invisible clown is the best thing for this team.
TJ- Grumpy clown- always yelling at the ref, always with that scowl as if he has been wronged. According to TJ, no reciever in the NFL has been held, interfered with, or bumped more than him.
Rudi- LL Cool J clown- guy just reminds me of LL. What guy spells his name with an i at the end who isn't Italian? Traci, Candi?
Justin- lazy clown- only plays in years his contract is up.
D-line- keystone cop clowns- nuff said
Linebacking core- gimpy clown- can't fault them for getting hurt.
Chris Henry- delinquent clown- put him in stripes and paint on a "duh" face. arrested while wearing his own jersey, it doesn't get any more clown than that.
Shayne Graham- eager hillbilly boy clown- hey coach, I wanna go down there and make tackles on kickoffs, and take advantage of the "no hitting the kickers rule", can I can I can I can I can I?
Willy- lovable old guy- I love Willy but he is too old and slow. Breaks my heart.
Mike Brown- money bags clown- paint him as the taxman or some other financially motivated bad guy.
Bengal fans- drunk whipping boy clowns- these are the biggest clowns of all. Not realizing how badly they have had it put to them and continuing to believe that he team they root for cares about them at all. I can't count the number of Who Dey heads I have recruited to the dark side by just taking them to a game at Heinz. One game there, and you realize what true fan friendly ownership is all about. Keep it up who dey heads, we love laughin at ya.

P.S. No way do the folks who run this blog have the nuevos to post this, no way.

The sports radio talk guy is a clown! How many teams did you see playing last Sunday/Monday with ONE linebacker?

one LB is no excuse. It's a front office/medical staff problem. How many LB's did the Patriots dress for the Bengals game? Answer = 8
