Lewis' attitude in a single quote

Upon further review of coach Marvin Lewis' comments Wednesday afternoon, this one stands out to me as the most telling glimpse into his mindset.

Early on, Lewis was asked about national media reports and analysis that the Bengals were a team in "disarray."

He said: "That’s a good perception, if that’s one they want to have. Hopefully, the Kansas City Chiefs feel like we’re in disarray -- or the team after that. We’ll play uphill, we’ll be fine. We’re going to play with a chip on our shoulder and we’ll get after it and be fine."

Lewis clearly has positioned his team in a bunker with an "us-against-the-world" mentality. Time will tell if it works.

This team seems to perform better when the media hates them. I'm fine with them being underdogs with low expectations and being trashed on by ESPN.

Marvin Lewis says the same thing every week but with different words. He needs to finally change something not only on the field but in the coaching staff. He also needs to decide if he wants to take care of the team and start making the right decisions or just to get out of cincinnati altogether. Its about time we made a change in Cincinnati because as it looks to me, Marvin has taken this team as far as they can go.
