Anderson out; Andrews to start at RT
Right tackle Willie Anderson's streak of 116 consecutive starts -- which dates to the end of the 1999 season -- will end Sunday at Kansas City. Anderson just told reporters at his locker that he will not play Sunday but does expect to travel and be on the sideline with his teammates.
Head coach Marvin Lewis said Stacy Andrews, who started the first three games at left guard, will start in Anderson's place at right tackle.
"We thought he was our best option there for the long run, one game or two," Lewis said of Andrews.
The starting offensive line will be Levi Jones, left tackle; Andrew Whitworth, left guard; Eric Ghiaciuc, center; Bobbie Williams, right guard; and Andrews, right tackle.
Lewis said Ghiaciuc would return to the lineup this week and that a return to a set lineup might help the run offense, which is ranked 26th heading into the game.
Backup Scott Kooistra has played extensively at right tackle.
"I'm not about streaks," Anderson said. "I'm about helping this team win."
Second-year lineman Whitworth said that Anderson, as an elite player, is one of the best teammates he's had because of how he consistently helps the players behind him.
Anderson has made the Pro Bowl the past four seasons. He has been first-team All Pro the past three years.
Now in his 12th season, Anderson has played in 178 games with the Bengals in the regular season with 172 starts. He also has one postseason start and game.
He suffered from a heel injury on his right foot. By trying to play with it, Anderson has hurt his right knee. He declined to go into detail about his various ailments, other than to say he is in his 12th season as an NFL offensive lineman.

Sure you aren't about streaks Willie, that is why you played two plays last week and quit on your team.
Why don't you just retire and get out of the way of the young players on this team?
I love you Willie...but I also think that you are more of a liability playing hurt that someone who is healthy. We realize that Willie is probably done as a Bengal...but we always find a way to fill the hole left by the great ones...like Munoz and the rest...Thanks for your hard work Willie...Thanks for going to the game this week to root on your team...thanks for your effort. Now lets go to KC and win that game...
George in Zanesville
Thanks for all you've done, Willie. You've been a heck of a player for this team. BUT, I wish I knew why in the world we backed up the cash truck for him, and let Eric Steinbach leave!?!
Well based on the injury report this game will be like this. the bengals will take a lead throwing the ball and no running game. In the second half KC will go cover 2 and we will punt all second half. Then LJ will run for about 120 yards after only like 23 in the first half. The D will fold like...ahhh...well take any other week. Better hope Kenny Watson doesn't get hurt but what should we worry about Marvin is gonna move forward...lol
