Roster moves
The Bengals this morning signed safety John Busing, who had been on the team's practice squad, to the active roster to replace cornerback Johnathan Joseph. Joseph was suspended Tuesday for one game for violating the NFL substance abuse policy and fined two game checks, a total of more than $42,000.
Joseph was placed on the Reserve/Suspended by Commissioner list. He is eligible to rejoin the team Monday. He can not practice this week but can attend meetings.
Also, the Bengals signed former Ohio State kicker Josh Huston to their practice squad.
Busing is a second-year NFL player. He signed a two-year contract. He played in seven games as a rookie last season, and he was with the Bengals in the 2007 preseason before being waived Sept. 1 and signed Sept. 2 to the practice squad.
Huston is a first-year NFL player. He opened 2007 with the N.Y. Giants and was 3-for-4 on field goals in preseason, including a 50-yarder. He was waived by the Giants on Sept. 1. Huston earned All-Big Ten first-team honors at Ohio State in 2005, and entered the NFL in spring 2006 as a college free agent with Chicago. He was not with an NFL team during the 2006 regular season.
