Willie, Rudi on Henry departure

Reaction on the Bengals' release of wide receiver Chris Henry:

Willie Anderson: "I'm sorry for his family. We, as a team, know how much he was doing for his family. More than the Bengals were depending on him. He had family up here after (Hurricane) Katrina (hit New Orleans). He had a whole lot of family up here. You know more bad news is coming for him after today. Just pray for him, man, as corny as that sounds. I hope he and his family are OK through this ordeal."

Rudi Johnson: "It's definitely sad. He had talent. He's a very talented kid. But as a teammate, I have to ask myself if I did enough to help him, even though I did a lot. You wish him the best and hopefully he gets the message and gets the big picture.

"Last season, I talked to him a lot when he wasn't playing. He was at my house a lot. He would say he was determined to turn his life around. It's sad that he was telling me one thing and doing another."

Yes, it's true the ultimate responsibility falls on Henry. But with his history and the team's need for his skills it would have been in everyone's best interest to take extra steps to help Henry learn to make the right decisions. I'm not sure exactly what could have been done but I'm sure someone could have come up with the right approach; maybe hire a constant companion or a life coach or many other possibilites. Mike Brown, could have hired someone smarter than me to come up with an approach that may have worked Henry. What a loss!

Good riddance. It's always sad too someone that young and talented wasting a life millions are dreaming of. But the team has to show that football standards are not superior to life standards and what defines being a man of his words with a true and genuine life ethics.

I have to say that when someone is given the opportunity that so many others dream of, it's hard to feel sorry for an individual who takes it and steps all over it. A part of me feels bad for Chris, a bigger part feels bad for the team, I guess we all know what we're drafting now.

anti-media,
I live in a small town. What exactly is "ghetto behavior on and off the field"?

This kid is a fool. Stuck on stupid.

The bigger shame: Dallas will sign him.

Henry gets in trouble in Cincy... just think what will happen in Dallas!
