Falcons sign C Stepanovich

Center Alex Stepanovich, whom the Bengals had no interest in re-signing, has signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Atlanta Falcons. He played in 12 games with four starts in place of the injured Eric Ghiaciuc in 2007. Dan Santucci was the only other center listed on the Bengals' year-end depth chart.

Agent Peter Schaffer said former Bengals wide receiver Tab Perry is in Green Bay visiting today but that "positive dialogue" continues on a possible contract with the Bengals.

Why would the Bengals not re-sign him? I wonder what he signed for in Atlanta?

so who's the back-up center now?

Better question: who's the starting center?

To me this is a much more important need than OT or RB. In fact, I would put it right behind DT, yet we hear nothing about the need for a better center. I think it has been a weak spot since Graham left. What's up at the C position?

Graham is a kicker, and still on the teem.

Good talk

Graham is the the kicker. Braham was a great center for the Bengals.

Look for the Bengals to take a center with a high draft pick (2nd or 3rd round). Who should they take?

Yeah, let's put Graham as a Center.. and see if he can open a hole for rudi.

Anon 9:21 - Now it seems we should look for the Bengals to use a high draft pick on the following positions - DE, DT, LB, S, Backup C, TE, the rest of the O-Line. Eventually, they'll run out of draft picks. Message to Bengals - this is why other teams participate in free agency signings.

More importantly, why would we re-sign Tab Perry. The guy has played in 4 games the last two years. Don't we ever learn?

Anon 10:02 - in case you didn't notice, the Bengals are actively participating in free agency this year. They signed a good young DT, and are trying to get a proven TE and S as well. Maybe you have missed all of that.

Their biggest needs in the draft are DT (Ellis or Dorsey), C, and the best players available at other spots for roster depth.

Is Blackstone going to play Center? Because he isn't a good linebacker.

Get david pollack back, have him play center

Anon 11:39, They signed a young DE not a DT... and they missed two DT to other teams. Maybe you missed all of that.

Yes, the Bengals participate very actively in free agency. They put guys on the market every year. Last year they put the best O-Lineman into the free agency pool. This year they put one of the best DE and Safety on the market. The Odom signing was great, but they've lost three quality starters and signed one. Blackstone is pretty much a career special teamer, so let's pray the Bengals don't have to start him this year.

As for the Bengals getting a safety, why not take a look at Will Demps. He was an alternate to the Pro Bowl this past season. He always killed the Bengals when he was with Baltimore and I don't think he will be that expensive. I'm very concerned about having a secondary with Jonathan Joseph as the most experienced player.

Anon 12:24 is right, he is a horrible linebacker, but he is a fantastic magician!

uuuuuuuuh, yeah... that would be Dexter Jackson Russ. And by the way, JJ is going to his third year and i think he's a good CB.

I thought that Dexter Jackson was a sure-fire cap casualty. Maybe not.
