Johnson deal maybe today

Landon Johnson, the Bengals unrestricted free agent linebacker, is believed to have competitive offers from the Bengals, Carolina and a third team and might make his decision as early as this morning. Cincinnati is believed to have matched the offers Johnson received from other teams in an effort to keep its leading tackler from three of the past four seasons.

I would like to see him back I just don't want to overpay, Johnson is a solid special teamer and 4th linebacker. I like what the bengals have done this offseason no panic just making the moves that make sense. Great management (did i just say that?) wow!

I too would like to see Landon back but it's pretty easy to see that he is not the answer at LB for this D to be good. He's certainly not in the same class as an Urlacher or Lewis and never will be. Unfortunately, signing him might prevent the Bengals from drafting this years' Patrick Willis or Ernie Sims or Manny Lawson. I think it will be a tough decision around draft time to decide whether we go DL or LB with that first pick, but it all depends on Landon signing, Goodell's decision on Thurman and Pollack's upcoming decision, although based on the Odom signing I believe the Bengals are planning on going forward without Pollack. This year the Bengals have been smart in FA, replacing Smith with Odom and possibly garnering a few extra compensatory picks again next year for Smith and Madieu.

With no DT presence, and likely no chance at the 2 studs in the draft, teams will continue to run the ball against the bungles effectively. Rudi is done, Perry and Kenny are done, leaving Watson and Dorsey, undersized, running backs. The OL showed its age this year, and our receivers will soon start to slow down as well. The lack of scouting and a true player development mentality has never been more prevalent. QB, DE, and WR are the only positions the bungles have capable starters. S, DT, OT, TE, LB are glaring areas of need. The bungles have cap room and the market has been admittedly thin, but they still should do more than they have. The bungles have acquired a bounty of draft picks, but if your scouting is the weakest in the league, how well will you draft? I am confident the bungles will not win 6 games next year. It's been a depressing ride from 2005 to present day.

Great free agent season for the Bengals. They lose their leading tackler on the D-line, their leading tackler at linebacker and their starting safety. and they sign one guy on the D-line who was a part time starter and didn't have 30 tackles this year.

the Bengals have about $20 million left in cap room but can't sign any of their own players. Once again, Mike Brown has shown why this is the worst organization in professional sports.

But at least the Bengals will make a healthy profit next year.
