DE Odom to visit Sunday

The Bengals are apparently set on remaking their defensive line. While it appears that end Justin Smith will sign with the 49ers -- or the Vikings if he doesn't do a quick deal in San Francisco -- the Bengals will entertain a prized free agent Sunday in Tennessee Titans defensive end Antwan Odom.

Odom, a four-year veteran from Alabama, is a 274-pound defensive end who had a career-high eight sacks last season for the Titans. He is an unrestricted free agent. The visit with the Bengals will be his first.

I'm glad to see Smith go. He was decent but not especially good... definitely time for a change.

How do you rank the acquisition of Rogers? I think it could end up being a really good one because if memory serves me, this guy is one of the most effective DTs. What do you think this means for the draft? Are Sedrick Ellis and Vernon Gholston out of the question now if Odom is also signed?

This would be a horrible move. He's clearly a contract year player. Before last season he never had more than 2 sacks in a season.

I'm also glad to see Smith go. Most of his tackles were past the line of scrimmage. He never dominated a tackle like he should have.
Odom could be a good move. The Bengals need to make a statement.

Signing Rogers makes a positive impact. I like the thought of us going after Odom as well. Now we can draft the best players available.

how many picks do the Bengals have. I heard they had as many as 10 picks with two 3 rd round picks.

Hey Mark, is there any chance that the Bengals will also make a run at Calvin Pace?

Maybe Odom is just coming into his own. If that is the case, then possibly a good move to sign him, Lord knows that all he has to do is get more than 2.5 sacks and 12 QB hurries to be an upgrade. As far as Rogers, I think it is a good pick up, however the price seems a little steep. I would think 4th and 5th would have been enough, but sometimes you have to make those moves. IN NO WAY DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE THE BENGALS READY TO TAKE THE BEST AVAILABLE!!!

The best available means for your team. You don't take draft picks for positions you already have. So some of you would say if the best player at #9 was a WR we take him, WHAT???? We still need to draft you studs on the lines. DE/ DT/ OG/ OT That is our needs regardless of what we do in FA. TE and RB in the later rounds (4th or 5th) maybe, but everything else should be on the line........
