Dhani Jones to re-sign with Bengals

UPDATE: Agent Donald Yee's assistant has confirmed the Bengals and linebacker Dhani Jones have agreed on terms for a three-year contract.

The Bengals appear to be close to finalizing a contract to re-sign outside linebacker Dhani Jones, who signed with them first as a street free agent in September after his release by New Orleans.

Jones, who turned 30 on Feb. 22, played in 14 games and made nine starts for the Bengals. He started the final eight games at weak-side linebacker and was second on the team with 111 tackles. He added seven on special teams.

The Bengals are waiting for the contract to come back via fax from Jones' Los Angeles-based agent, Donald Yee.

Great signing. Its nice to know the Bengals are spending money on the best free agents out there. When do playoff tickets go on sale?

Anyone not ok with them letting Williams go didn't pay attention the last few years. Signing Jones is a smart move. The guy is a leader and still has something left.

Glad that the Bengals are sticking with their tried and true approach that has served them well over the past seasons of high-caliber football: re-sign players developed within our championship system, don't target outside players in free agency and only sign players that are left after the "big spending" stops.

Seriously, the Bengals have more salary cap space than two-thirds of the league, yet they claim they don't have the money to make any deals!? Kawika Mitchell was a bargain for the Bills, if the Bengals had any brains upstairs they could spot players that are good for the team and go out and get them, instead of sitting on their hands. Mike Brown and his pitiful executive ability make me sick.

All of you Mike Brown haters are just wasting your breath. Mike's father did it all. Mike can't coach, but he is determined that he can be a be facto GM. That's the way it is folks. He is daddy's boy. At least he wants to show daddy up there in football heaven.

Dhani is a solid signing. He played great and always brings it.

Anon 3:13,

I'd rather waste my breath than waste my money. Quit defending the guy.

Jones is an average player at best.He stood out last year just shows how bad the defense is.This is by far the worse front office and ownership in pro sports.I forgot their the same people. There is no hope as long as the Brown family owns the team
