Bengals tender exclusive rights players
The Bengals this afternoon announced that third-year players Glenn Holt, Rashad Jeanty and Corey Mays have been offered one-year tenders. Running back Dan Burks was not tendered.
Holt is a wide receiver, and Jeanty and Mays linebackers.
The tenders are for the one-year minimum of $445,000 for players with two credited seasons.
Their contracts have expired, but they do not have enough credited seasons to gain free agency. The Bengals retain their exclusive rights for 2008 by making the offers.
The players each have the option of signing the tender offer or negotiating a longer-term contract with the Bengals.

How about we tender a big fat offer to Jevon Kearse!!!!
The Bengals won't tender a offer to anyone that is capable of helping. They are too cheap and will continue to be a losing team.
Mark, do you have an update on the David Pollack situation? When is he getting his second (third, fourth, etc.) opinions and when will he make his decision? Thanks.
I'm going to assume that both of the above posts were joking about signing Jevon Kearse. I know you can both probably remember 4-5 years ago when Kearse was a good defensive lineman, but he's terrible now. Totally ineffective.
Can't believe I'm saying this...good move for the Bengals. Jeanty and Holt are the type of guys we need on this team.
These are nice moves, just keeping some solid backups on the team.
... and no way we go after Jevon Kearse. He is going to be 32 at the start of the season and he has been very injury prone. Plus, he has one of the worst agents to deal with in Drew Rosenhaus. Drew is a player's agent and is somehow very good at getting good player overpaid, and then when they perform like they are supposed to, he thinks they need a raise. He constantly pits players against teams. I think if I were a GM, I would avoid his players.
Kearse will sign somewhere for more money than he is worth.
Everyone knows that Kearse is no longer "THE FREAK," but even 5% of his former self would make him our defensive mvp. If a washed-up and un-wanted Dhani Jones can come in here and be one of our better defenders, then I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Kearse in to see what he can do. If he sucks, then cut him. Just my thoughts. Desperate times call for desperate measures!
