Free agency eve

The San Francisco 49ers are looking seriously at Bengals defensive end Justin Smith, according to The Sacramento Bee. End Bryant Young retired, and Marques Douglas is an unrestricted free agent.

If the Bengals are indeed moving to the 3-4, Douglas might be a good fit.

The Colts terminated the contract of defensive tackle Anthony "Booger" McFarland, who tore his patella tendon last year. His agent told The Indianapolis Star that McFarland's rehab is ahead of schedule.

The New York Daily News reports that the Jets are poised to make a Steelers left guard Alan Faneca or Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel the richest player in franchise history.

If I were the Jets and going to sign one of those two to big money. I'd go with Faneca, he is a can't miss. You are more likely to get 5-6 yers of good production from Faneca than Samuel.

Samuel is more likely to be a bust. He could just be a product of the system and corners seem to have fewer good years on them. Once a corner loses a step, they fade fast.

Put your money in the trenches and you'll be fine.

where do you see / hear where Michael Turner of San Diego going too?

He looks to be a starter somewhere.

I have heard rumors that Turner is being considered in Detroit, Houston and Atlanta.

I think that the problem with signing a guy like Turner is that someone is going to pay big bucks for an unproven starter. Turner has put up some great numbers as a backup, but whether he can carry the load of a season is yet to be seen. Plus, that San Diego line is pretty good at run blocking. Turner probably won't post a 4.5 average with many other teams that are looking for a back.

Jevon Kearse... We need to go get him RIGHT NOW.
Great player and a good lockerroom guy.

Although I am disappointed that Jared Allen and Albert Haynesworth were franchised, I expected as much. The report on the Bengals sounds par for the course, I hope it is not right. The Bengals are going to sit back the first few days of FA and let other teams set the market and then pick up some second tier guys. Sound familiar!!!!!
