Lewis: Browns no extra motivation

The Cleveland Browns will bring their 9-5 record to Cincinnati on Sunday needing only a
victory against the Bengals to qualify for the AFC playoffs.

The Bengals are four games worse than the Browns, at 5-9. The Bengals are headed home and with a losing record for the first time since 2002, which was the last time the Browns went
to the playoffs.Do the Bengals find any additional motivation in spoiling the Browns postseason invitation for even one more week?

"You have to be motivated to win the football game," Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said
Monday. "The things they have going on is their deal. The big thing is just that we want to
win the football game."

No revenge, like when the Bengals entered the regular-season finale in 2003 needing a
victory against the Browns – plus some help – to make the playoffs in Lewis’ first season as
Bengals coach? The Browns upset the Bengals, 22-14, at Paul Brown Stadium.

No.

What about some pay-back for the butt-whipping, 51-45, the Browns laid on the Bengals
defense in Week 2 at Cleveland?

"There has been a lot of football, so it’s hard to put it on one game," Lewis said. "But we
lost the football game up there. We had the opportunity to put them away, and we didn’t."

The Bengals allowed 554 yards in total offense to Cleveland, including 216 rushing yards to
Jamal Lewis. Would you like to shut him down?

"He had a good game the last time, but the two or three previous (while with the Baltimore
Ravens), not as good," Marvin Lewis said.

In Game 8 of 2006, Jamal Lewis ran for 72 yards and one touchdown against the Bengals and
followed it with 17 attempts for 61 yards in Game 12.

But Jamal Lewis, in his first season in Cleveland, has found new life. He has rushed for 1,084 yards (4.3 average) and nine touchdowns.

Alright, the fans of the Bengals are pissed off. So what is the best way to show your digust in the Bengals other than stop going to the games? It is going to the game this weekend and supporting the Browns.

Seriously! The Browns are tied with Pittsburgh for the division. Who would you rather see win the division, Pittsburgh (remember what they did to Carson) or Cleveland. The Bengals don't have a chance, so why support a spoiler and have the Steelers win the division? The same Steelers that everyone loaths!

By rooting for the Browns this weekend, the Bengal fans will accomplish two goals: 1) Show Mike Brown, Marvin Lewis and those 'selfish' team members that the city of Cincinnati won't support their B.S., and 2) Help keep Pittsburgh from winning the AFC North.

Think about it!

Why does anyone at Marvin Lewis' press conferences bother to ask any questions?

It sounds like the same answers every week programmed into the Marvin-tron.

ProFootballTalk is reporting locker room fallout between T.J., Chad and the rest of the team, resentment toward the two receivers and their attempt to run the team. Anything there Mark? (Not that Marvin Lewis would give any insight into the issue.)

Mark - I'm glad you asked Marvin about the off season decisions that have to be made, but when he talked back to you, why didn't you stand your ground and clarify what you really meant?? I don't understand why the Cincinnati media is so afraid of Marvin Lewis. His little smirks and crack-backs to Chick make everyone laugh, but really that laughter is hiding their fear of addressing the real problems and questions of this team. STAND UP TO THAT CONDESCENDING &^%$!

Oh look, some guy named Toeina just made a tackle for the Bears, on national TV. Yeah, the guy who according to some moron named Mike Brown was expendable after the Bengals gave him ZERO chances all year long. What a bunch of idiots we have in Cincinnati. I could do a far better job deciding which draft picks to keep for longer than 7/8ths of a season, and I suspect most of you fans could too!

Get the hell out of Cincinnati Mike Brown, you utterly incompetent loser!

Why is our coach such a joke? Just like Shayne Graham misses crucial kicks against the Steelers, Marvin has no idea what it means to be rivals. We owe the Browns a beating. Has this team no pride?

I have tickets that I will be selling to a browns fan.

Mark,

You should accept the posts on here more often (or have someone else monitor it). It seems there will be no posts, then I'll come back a little later and there's 22.

On Trent Rosecran's blog, there are often many posts partly because he "accepts" comments much more frequently. There are rarely any discussions on your blog because the posts are accepted so infrequently.

This (group of people), like I posted last, "can not be called a TEAM," has no motivation to play a good game of football, let alone the ability or the desire to exact revenge on another NFL team.
The Dawg Clowns, I have to give credit, are playing as a TEAM and it shows. They were picked to finish last in the division and look, they are in contention to finish 1st with another win and a Piss-burg Squealer loss.
It's real tough living in east central Ohio and being a fan of this group of misfits.

How about we lose the final two games and also the head coach while we are at it. He's had 5 years and is going in the wrong direction!

Mark,
Is Marvin STUPID -- We are rivals of the Browns and we better be fired up to play them...they ruined our season this year. MARVIN AND STAFF MUST BE FIRED. MIKE BROWN SHOULD LOSE THIS FRANCHISE AND IT SHOULD MOVE OVER NIGHT TO ANOTHER CITY OR COUNTRY. I'M SICK OF THE INABILTY TO WIN IN THIS CRAPPY SPORTS tOWN.

In comparison, look at what Bob Kraft with the Patriots has done since buying them around the same time Mike Brown took over the Bengals. It starts from the top & trickles down. Hence the reason our coaching staff is so aweful. Booo Bengals!!!!

Only the fans and season ticket holders can make this this franchise better. Do not attend Bengal games period. That is the only bargaining chip for the fans.
Make Mikey Boy hire 5-10 more scouts and a GM. Think of the millions you fans give Mikey Boy and the spoiled brats, Troy and Katie. You ever thinked those 2 ever worked a day in thier Ivy League lives?

I live in northeast Ohio (30 miles south of Cleveland) and I am not a Cleveland fan. I am, and have been, a Bengal fan since 1974. It's hell living here right now amongst all these Browns fans. I would like nothing more than for the Bengals to put a whoopin on the Browns and make them wait another week. This whole thing started the 2nd week of the season when the Browns put a whoopin on the Bengals. The Bengals have never recovered and I don't see it happening this week. Let them have their revenge Marvin.
