Reader tip on Purdue TE
One of this blog's readers pointed out (thank you) that NFL.com also listed that Bengals coaches were in attendance at Purdue's pro day. Specifically, tight ends coach Jonathan Hayes was there to watch tight end Dustin Keller.
Keller, at 6-2, 248 pounds, had 56 receptions for 771 yards and four touchdowns last season. He had a strong showing at the combine, another in a line of productive postseason workouts. Scouts say Keller needs to vastly improve as a blocker and projects as a situational H-back in the pros.
Purdue had four players at the combine: Keller, defensive end Cliff Avril, wide receiver Dorien Bryant and linebacker Stanford Kegler. Keglar had a great combine workout, after he trained for eight weeks at Ignition in Mason under the eye of trainer Clif Marshall. Marshall has worked with the Bengals, and he's a likely source of additional information for them about Keglar.

Keller put up some great numbers at the combine which have lead many analysts to speculate he could now be a late first rounder. I would hope that if the Bengals were to make a move at Keller it would be by trading their second round pick and perhaps one of the extra third round picks. The first round pick should be used for nothing but defense.
I heard MB & ML were thinking about drafting another QB w/the 1st pick, makes sense, right!!!!!!
If the RB position is crammed why not the QB.
Spokesman for the Bengals said
"MB HAS SOMETHING VERY CLEVER UP HIS SLEVEE,Right out of his playbook of success that has helped him become a leading force in NFL management,Results are there for MB & CO.Just look at the Brooks deal from san diego in 1986,MB BROKERED THAT DEAL,He has results to back up his formula of success.A real Football Guru that guy".
Yea,bambozzling the fan's day in & day out.
As a Purdue alum, I watch a ton of games and can attest to Keller being a real talent. However, I don't think he is worthy of a first round pick, especially since he has a propensity to drop passes and inopportune moments.
I would love for us to look at Dorien Bryant in a later round. He is a more than decent receiver with fantastic speed, but most importantly, he was a great kick and punt returner, someone that opposing teams constantly had to worry about. Given the big article on bengals.com today, it might be someone to think, as I haven't seen him getting any press whatsoever. Could be a steal for some team.
Are there two Purdue Football teams because I didn't see Keller drop any big play passes -actually can only remember one drop all year. Bryant had multiple drops, several fumbles and at least three passes intercepted that went through or off his hands.
