Agent: Bengals will sign linebacker

Agent Jason Chayut has confirmed the pending contract that former Arizona Cardinals linebacker Brandon Johnson will sign with the Bengals.

The Bengals had no information to release today and were not expected to make any annoucement regarding Johnson. The Bengals also have not received word yet from the Colts on whether they have matched the Bengals' offer sheet for Ben Utecht, a restricted free agent tight end. The Bengals signed him to a three-year, $9 million offer sheet Friday; it is the same money the Bengals pay starting tight end Reggie Kelly, who re-signed as an unrestricted free agent in 2007.

Yawnnnnnnnnnn!!!!

Mark,Let me know when we sign a REAL LB that roams the field putting fear in the opposition.

Bengals Spokesman Comments-

"MB realizes that top tier LB's are not cheap to buy off the FA circuit, trading is not an option since the NFL changed it's trading guidelines, the franchise is still trying to catch up & learn the new rules.MB has had great results in brokering deals,he exclusivly was the driving force behind the James Brook deal in the 80's, but alot has changed since the good ole days.MB results as GM/owner has wide respect across the league for his "Keen" abilities to sight talent were other GM's cannot, this he has passed down to his daughter & son in law that are now making field personnel decisions."

"Business as Usual"

Will say I'm surprised by the amount Utecht was offered. It's a step in the right Direction, but still doesn't fix the problems on Defense.Which I hear alot about DE,but LB is still suspect.

Off-topic but ... Mark, are you really 5'-2" or it just the pants?
We had to bag Daughter to get rid of his pink shirt on his blog pic. He looks much better today.
You're not 5-2, are you?

What I find funny is Reddlegg claims good teams "will raise the bid higher,as do smart owners that want depth" in a previous post but dogs the bengals here for adding depth to a linebacking core that was decemated by injuries last year.

When the Bengals drafted TJ in the 7th round I'm sure people were claiming it was a wasted pick. You don't know what young players will accomplish untill they are given the chance.

Mindriot-Come on feel the noise.Boys rock the girls.A liitle quiet riot for you. It's a 80's thing for those not in the know

I just think the Bengals need to go get a LB that put's fear in the opposition, not another 6th stringer that is cheap & in MB's price range.

I stand by my comments before about depth & Owners that will pay for it,FOR PROVEN BACKUP'S THAT HAVE WORTH & ARE NEEDED.Not scrubs that sit on benches & are unproven.Utecht is proven.he's a christian rock star for pete sakes & he catches the ball.I've seen him play,he produces.

Who's Brandon Johnson?????My point exactly.
