Report: Redskins want Chad

This tidbit from this morning's Washington Post:

Numerous league sources have affirmed that the Redskins have interest in trading for Cincinnati wide receiver Chad Johnson, with two league sources saying Johnson is eager to land a hefty new contract from Washington.

Acquiring an elite receiver is team owner Daniel Snyder's top priority, league sources said. The Bengals have said they have no intention of trading Johnson, but his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is working quietly to broker a deal, the sources said.

-- Question: Do you trade Johnson, and what would the requirements be for your trade?

Ah yes, Chad's true motivations come through. All the front loaded money is gone, he wants a new contract. Big surprise.

First round pick, nothing less. He is an elite WR who is under contract for a while. None of this 2nd or 3rd round crap. There isn't a player available in the draft that will be as Chad Johnson.

2 first round picks. Anything less, let him sit out.

Hurry and trade him before Washington comes to their senses. He is the worst since Crybaby Carl Pickens. I am so tired of hearing him. It's like he has a perpetual case of PMS. And he can take his ridiculous "Future HOF" jacket with him. Watch out Washington - It's ALL about Chad.

Does Washington have any decent Defensive lineman? How about a decent DT/DE and a 3rd round pick for CJ? I am a bengal fan and tired of the seeminly yearly rant CJ does during the year (well all year round).

Mark,
One thing I've missed with all the Chad Johnson trade discussion is the possible flexibility of the salary cap. I know the Bengals would take a major hit if they traded Chad, but can another team lesson the blow financially? Or is this cap hit an absolute? If that is the case, how large of an offer would it take to offset that hit? I would like to hear your opinion. It is much easier to assign a value in terms of draft pick - but factor in the salary cap implications and his trade value to the Bengals would have to be monumental. Am I off on this? Why would his agent work behind the scenes on this if there wasn't the possibility of a trade? Thing is, I don't see the Bengals eating that money - it's not in their character.

at 2/12/2008 9:27 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

It just seems to me that if the Redskins pick him up and all of the front loaded money is paid already by the Bengals, then it would only be fair to have to hurt Washington to get him.
Screw Rosenhaus and Johnson for taking that up front money and wanting a trade. A real man honors the terms of a contract he signs. The rest of us are expected to honor our legal commitments.

Isn't that tampering? What's tampering?

Lots of draft picks. Redskins owner Snyder is not the brightest crayon in the box on football matters so if the Bungles do trade Princess Chad they should rake Synder over the coals!

1rst round 2008 Draft pick

at 2/12/2008 9:33 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Given our salary cap issues, I say make him play in Cincinnati, or let him sit and rot. His agent is slick enough to realize that a year or two on the sidelines will kill his marketability, so he'll never let Chad just sit. If Chad decides to give less than 100%, it will reflect on his value (aka, his own wallet).

I have a hard time listening to these rich children whine. They sign a contract (a legal agreement), they should live up to it. No excuses. The rest of us have to. Wealthy idiots should get no special treatment.

at 2/12/2008 9:34 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

This is just another case of the media having nothing better to report on. Sorry folks, Chad is not going anywhere. If anything, he will receive an extension on his contract in Cincy. I am sure Chad's agent has slipped this crap to the press in an effort to get that extension. Drew knows that this will cause public outcry from fans. It is going to put pressure on Mike Brown and Co to give more money to Chad. I would bet the farm that Chad know nothing about this rumor (other than what is in the paper) as it is a ficticious story made up by DR.

C'mon people. With an 8 Million dollar cap hit, do you really think the bengals would trade Chad? Even if they got a first round draft choice, what good would it do? They would have the cap hit from Chad + the cap hit from an additional first round pick. Please! If the bengals did make a trade, they would have to get draft picks for 2009 and up so they could actually use them.

As for you idiots saying chad is a baby an crying for him to leave... go scratch. If it were not for players like Chad, the bengals would not be where they are today. Other than Carson Palmer (since he is the heralded QB), who brings more attention to Cincy? When you go out to a sports store, whose number do you see on the jerseys? Who do you see in the commercials? Who do you see in the highlights?

Dennis Gilgallon

$8M cap hit... hello? McFly? Am I the only one not chugging the trade-Chad Koolaid? Put him on special teams, bury him on the bench. Suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team. Take him to court. Force his hand. DO NOT TRADE CHAD. All together now "8 million dollars, 8 million dollars..." Oh, and HE feels disrespected? Nobody has HIS back? What about us Chad? What about the fans? How about people making 25 grand a year that shell out 1200 bucks a season to see 7-9 teams? What about the people that call you a role model? I guess there really isn't more to this guy than I thought there was.

at 2/12/2008 9:44 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

This could be the best situation for the Bengals. Dan Snyder would trade his house for a shiny new wide receiver. We could probably get two draftpicks, including a first rounder.

at 2/12/2008 9:50 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

I could go either way on whether you do this trade or not but I agree with Anonymous 8:44am whole-heartedly. Chad claims this charade he's pulling isn't about money. He says this about getting that Super Bowl ring. If this trade to the Redskins happens - and I doubt it will - Chad's true intentions will be exposed to the world. What chance do the Redskins have of getting to the Super Bowl? Zip, zilch, and in language "Ocho Cinco" can understand. . . NADA. With the Cowboys and Giants ahead of them, it's doubtful the Redskins can get out of their own division for crying out loud. If Rosenhaus was looking out for his client instead of his own wallet he would've shut all this nonsense down from the beginning. They deserve each other.

at 2/12/2008 9:50 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Please please please make this trade...no matter what the cost. As a long time supporter of Chad, he's worn out his welcome. And while the Bengals are at it...never draft or sign another Rosenhaus client.

at 2/12/2008 10:09 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree that an $8 million dollar cap hit makes it virtually impossible for Chad to play anywhere but in Cincinnati next season. But if the 'Skins offered a first and third round pick I would think about it. If Chad wants the most money possible then he should go to the 'Skins--good luck Jim Zorn.

What happened with being a team player? The man is making millions of dollars as it is. Be happy with what you got. He is sounding more and more like Corey Dillion. Why keep him here and drag the team moral down, because of his greediness and unhappiness? Send him on, make sure that we get 1st round pick and maybe recoup some of the upfront money we paid for him.

at 2/12/2008 10:13 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

If you can get value for him- take it. I'd take the trade for a first and fourth rounder if Chad would restructure his contract to avoid the $8 million dollar hit. Chad is a great reciever but history has consistently shown that the game is not won with great recievers. It's not even won with great offense. This team needs way to much defensive help to pass this one up!!

at 2/12/2008 10:14 AM Blogger Unknown said...

Dennis - dead on. And yeah, this SCREAMS of tampering. The only way this could POSSIBLY work is for CJ to be traded for a guy like Andre Carter (DE) who just signed a contract in '06 with upfront money. That way, each team takes a "hit" on this years cap.

At the same time, if Snyder really wants Johnson, I'd say Carter PLUS 1st round pick in '08. But if Johnson leaves for anything less than this type of trade, Lewis & Brown are going to have a tough time turning the Bengals around. Henry is NO Johnson...

I think the NFL needs to put an end to the games that are played by these athletes and their agents. If he doesn't try - sit him, if he makes commments - fine him. If he sits out, fine by me. I'll even buy tickets to watch someone else play infront of Chad.
We got a great opportunity for the NFL. Who is better than bull headed, stuborn Brown family to make Chad live up to his contract. 4 more years of low effort, bad stats and fines. Chad's career will be over and he will have less money to show for it. Mike, this is your chance.

Trade Chad + Mike Brown for a water boy. Now that would be a perfect trade!

Chad wants to be traded & wants more money because he is out $'s. He does have 7 illigitimate children with seven different women with which he pays child support for all of them. Trade the cry baby dirt ball we don't need him.

get off the 8 million cap hit. the cap will be at least 116 million dollars. First that is less than 7%. Funny how other NFL teams seem to be able to do this. So we take a hit this year, then its off the books next year.

By the way, we took a $8 mil cap hit for justin smith last year, how did that work out?

Trade Chad. We need defense and younger players. Get a first for him. Get a second and a third. Go find guys like Justin Tuck. Get some linebackers.

Oh and for the you cant get rid of a all pro wr....who was wes welker before he went to NE? WRs are the easiest position to fill. Chad catches the ball. He doesnt block. He aint no Hines Ward, I'll tell you that.

at 2/12/2008 10:32 AM Anonymous Anonymous said...

I would take advantage of this and make a trade with them immediately for three reasons, Chad is now 30 years old and probably only has 3 to 4 more highly productive years left, secondly this is a very deep draft this year and I am assuming we would receive the Redskins 1st round draft choice and another pick in exchange for Chad. Third Chad is a cancer and me type player who's value will probably continue to drop. Sell now, obtain(draft) team orientated players and let the rebuilding begin.

Get their 21st overall pick for him, then trade both 9th and 21st for a higher pick to secure either Ellis, Dorsey or Long.

Hey Mark (or anyone else), can you post where the Bengals have been over the past five years in regards to the salary cap? I'd like to know if we ever actually pay up to the cap. If we don't, then the 8 million hit doesn't matter that much.

Thanks for letting us all know what the true impact of this might be.

Its depressing that a man of this profile, only cares about himself, years ago he had nothing, if it wasnt for his team he would be nothing. What does a guy that kids look up to think, kids will think its only about me. No wonder are young kids think the way the do. Guys like this have no self worth. Look in the mirror chad if it wouldn't have been for all the people that supported you along the way you wouldnt have what you have today. The only thing I have to say is I am dissapoint in you as a man and a human being you dont care about people only yourself. We dont need your type around here hope you have a good life. Don R.

Mark, do you know of any way that Chad's contract could be restructured to reduce a cap hit if he left? So he would sign a contract with the Bengals which lowered the cap hit, was traded, and then signed a new deal that paid him something different? I don't see any other way for this deal to get done. Hope you respond. Thanks.

Chad wants to win and he let's his frustration show, but no way can you replace him. Do you think the offense would be better without him? It's like taking Wayne away from Indy. TJ would be tripled teamed and Henry doubled and totally out of the offensive picture. So who would you throw too?

Bengals should make that deal this instant.

Paying the salary cap relief, first round pick, a bag of practice balls, the really smoking hot Hispanic Redskins cheerleader (Arlene) and some DC Lottery tickets for Chad?

Bengals should make that deal this instant.

The guy has to go.

Wide recievers are one of the easiest positions to replace. Plus when NE won all those Super Bowls, who was the top reciever? There really wasn't one, they had a good group of recievers, none which stand out. Now this year, they had Randy Moss, and look where it go them, they had a top reciever, so they thought they could just carry him, they forced balls to him, because he was Moss, but if they just kept up with Welker in the underneath game, they would have won, just like all those SB's. Moral of the story, a top reciever gets you know where, a top defense does, see NYG! So lets trade Chad to a team who has a great DT or DE and get them with a 1st round pick of this year, and then maybe we can work something out. Sometimes you just gotta eat the money, because he is a cancer, because HE CAN'T SHUT HIS HUGE MOUTH. Why can't he just shut up and play, he hasn't proven anything except he can catch passes, but he is nothing as a leader, which is something he needs to work on

Trade Chad. Get whatever you can but trade Chad. The Bengals need team players and not selfish babies.

If the Bengals do not trade Chad, the fault lies with M Lewis and M Brown.

at 2/12/2008 12:38 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

You can replace a reciever easier than any position. Fact 1. Chad is a great player, not a great leader. Fact 2. His agent is the sleezest person in sports, just look at TO in SF and Philly, both those organizations felt the effects after he left. Fact 3.

So if Chad wants to be traded, you restucture his contract so that we don't take a hit, and trade him for a 1st round pick, hey number 1 is in Miami, plus a 2nd or maybe 1st round in 2009, and trade him to Oakland, or Miami, they have probably 3 years before they end up 2nd behind NE in that division, then everyone in Cincinnati point and laugh at him because he is becoming the biggest D-Bag ever, being stuck in Oakland with Al Davis, or in Miami finishing every year behind NE haha love it

In response to "Anonomous 10:29 AM-- get off the 8 million cap hit. the cap will be at least 116 million dollars. First that is less than 7%" Lets figure what 7% really is. Take 100 (as in 100%) and divide it by 7. You get just over 14. Thats how many players would be on our team if we paid them all 7% of the cap. Last time I counted, you need at least 22 to play football. That's a HUGE number. And of Justin Smith: all he does is give you everything he has every play. If we had more players with Justin Smith's motor we would finish in the top half defensively. So, $8M isn't exactly affordable (and consider who cuts the checks while your at it.) Not gonna happen. Mike Brown was about to let Corey Dillon flip burgers. Chad can be a co-host for "Put Up Your Dukes" because he's staying in Cincy out of principle alone for Mike Brown.

Ahhhh, the Clown Prince is at it again. You have to admit, there is never a dull moment with a child like Chad. Let's face it, everyone is upset over this clown and getting all this attention is exactly what he wants....just like a child. Let's be honest here.....as long as things are going well he is happy, but when it goes bad he wants to run away.....he wants all of his money upfront, but now that it is gone he wants more......he wants a long term contract, but then he wants something else.....he enjoys making children with numerous women, but does not want to grow up and get married (let's keep those single parent households coming)....when he is unhappy he does not talk to the team or owners, he runs to national media......he wants to be a big man at a comedy club by promising to give things away, then changes his mind....and my personal favorite, he refers to himself in the 3rd person ("Chad has to be Chad") THESE ARE NOT THE ACTIONS OF AN ADULT, THEY ARE THE ACTIONS OF A SPOILED LITTLE CHILD.

I don't believe it's possible to redo a contract and lower his cap hit before the trade. The problem with the cap hit is that he's already received bonus money that hasn't counted against the cap yet. And that would have to be absorbed into the cap with the trade. When teams redo contracts to lower the cap hit, it's usually an extension, spreading that bonus money out over additional years on the backend. But if the player would be cut or traded, it all still has to be absorbed, since it has been paid to the player.

The worst case scenario would be to have both parties remain equally bull-headed. Come August, we'd have a TO situation, a divided lockeroom, massive media attention, etc. Philly was a Super Bowl team, and now they are nothing...TO and DR effectively destroyed that team.

If Chad is not going to grow up-we need to lose him. Maybe a couple of 1st round picks and some cash. It would send a message that we only want players who want to be Cincinnati Bengals. It would help instill the team 1st mentality and at the same time earn us some cream of the crop rookies.

The Bengals would shoot themselves in the foot trading Chad. They actually have the cap room this year to do some stacking between free agency and the draft. by maintaining chad they would be keeping a league best receiver along with whoever else they sign. Getting rid of chad would be getting rid of the best receiver in bengals history losing cap money which means less building capibility. and getting someone from the redskins that nobody wants there is noone on that team worth sacrificing chad for. everyone is so quick to jump on the trade chad bandwagon, thats the worst idea since the pet rock.
I for one agree with with chad this team has been going backwards since 05 and if anything i think his ranting is a wake up call to the organization that everything that they are doing is the wrong direction for the club and if they dont fix and actually want a lombardi trophy in Cincinnati he along with other members will try elsewhere. also if you guys think TJ is the only receiver the bengals need to get them to the promise land you need a reality check. who do you think helped TJ get those 112 catches last season by being doubled and triple teamed. Chad. So think before you people bite the hand that feeds this organization.

The cap hit will not be 8 Million it is around 4 million, see the article on Profootballtalk.com, they now more about the CBA then most people. I think 4 million is managable as long as we get a 1st rounder and another pick before the 3rd round. He is a very good WR, but GREAT WR catch balls in the 4th quarter and can break a tackle.

Simply put, Chad will count about $6.3 million against the cap if he stays with the Bengals and about $8.8 million against the cap if he is traded. The net difference is about a $2.5 million increase in his cap cost if he is traded.

You will hear a lot of people say they can't trade him because it would cost them over $8 million against the cap. What those people aren't saying is he is going to cost at least $6.3 million no matter what.

The bonus is that his cap count in 2009 would be $0 which would be a cap SAVINGS of over $7 million.

In other words, it costs them only an additional $2.5 million against the cap to trade him now plus they save huge $$$ against the 2009 cap.

Don't listen to anyone saying they can't afford the cap hit. Clearly, they can.

Our real problem is ownership first, coaching second. Until all those cancers are out of here, the Bengals will remain one sick team, Chad or no Chad.

Mike Brown continues to make my "eaten by a dingo" short list.

Too bad he never goes to Australia.

If Chad is to be traded, we'll need a top linebacker and two first round picks. Anything less than that from ANY team (do the Skins have a "top linebacker?") would be stupid.

Ergo, I expect Brown, Idiots, & Co., will trade Chad for less.

Sit that punk! Do themselves, the NFL, and all football fans a favor and sit him for the year. He is a 30 year old receiver who signed a front loaded contract that has 3 or 4 years left on it. The problem is all of the front end money is in Chad's hands, and now he wants more than his base salary to do the job that he has already been paid for. Let him sit the year and run his mouth, but don't sit idle and not state your point. Tell it like it is, Have it come from the coaches, not just the owner. Explain that Chad is greedy, and that he is letting down his team because he is looking to re-work a contract that has already been redone twice.
Where will Chad be a year down the line? A year older (those are precious years when your over 30 in the NFL) A million dollars down the drain. Endorsements for non players dry up quick.
Where will the Bengals be a year down the road, whithout Chad playing? Likely no worse than 7-9, and likely not much better. Sellouts every week. National stories weekly about the team taking a stand against a spoiled player. Maybe it becomes a us againt the world underdog team that finally matures without the playbaby making a sideshow every week. (Somebody might want to tell him he is getting paid to score touchdowns. It's what he is supposed to do. The play is called, he runs a route, qb throws, he catches. It's all by design. A design that requires the execution of all 11 players or it's doomed to fail. DO YOUR JOB!)

Trading Chad Johnson would put the Bengals back at least one year, maybe two. I don't care if you get a 1st round draft pick (and at what position - 21st), he's not
going to come in and perform even remotely close to Chad's level for at least a year. A draft pick could even be a total bust (remember Verser)! Let him play. Who cares if he garners media attention? It will be the only time Cincinnati makes football news short of going to the Superbowl.

Typical media running with nothing. So the Redskins would be interested in Chad Johnson. So would many teams. Does that mean that the Bengals are willing to trade him? No. Does it mean the Skins have even contacted the Bengals? No.

Slow news day.

The only way you could possibly do this is for the Bengals to recieve 2 1st round picks, otherwise it's not worth the hassle of absorbing the cap hit.

Otherwise I say keep Chad, he can cry all he wants he's still under contract. It's a shame about Chad, I used to really pull for him. How quickly people forget what it's like to be poor. If someone pays me millions of dollars, there is no way I say they don't respect me. I keep my mouth shut and play ball. The Bengals showed their respect when they reworked the deal, now it's time for Chad to show some respect.

Got to believe Drew "The Shark" planted this non-story. Only way it makes sense, Snyder is as dumb as our guy Mike F. Brown.

First off, we HAVE no salary cap issues. We would take the hit on his pro-rated bonus but would save his salary. The Bengals are far enough under the cap to absorb that AND make a run at the Steelers' guard (as it appears all the good D Lineman will get the Franchise tag). I'd say a first round pick, nothing more. Addition by subtraction, and let's not forgot that his best days are most likely behind him.

Man I hope this happens. I can't wait to see the look on Chad's face when Jason Campbell's throws go sailing 4 feet over his head.

This 'story' comes directly from the shark. Nice pair, these two big mouths. This is all about money and Chad needs to be called out for it. Not one member of the national media has put these tough questions to Chad. They just sit and listen to him ramble on and on.
Please, someone ask Chad on national tv, "why would you treat a team that has paid you 16 million over the last two years the way your treating the Bengals? Chad, this is really about the money in't it? Watch your boy Chad run off of the set.
Sit his but and let him watch next year. You get nothing in return, so just sit him.

Chad, just read some of the post on this blogpage. the answer is simple. Do you want to stay in a city where the "redneck factor" of the population and media think like the people on this blogpage or do you want to go to a city where a black man who isn't afraid to talk and celebrate touchdowns isn't seen as a hate crime? Do you want to live in a city where Pete Rose (gambling idiot and friend of drug dealers) and Josh "you smoke crack dont ya" Hamilton are seen as folk hero's? or doyou want to go to a city where they have "diverse culture" and a "diverse media" Do you want to go to a city where the Canuttes and Doc's of the world exsist? or do you want to go to a city where there is atleast two Wilbons for every Canutte/cunningham in Cincinnati? There choice is clear Chad, leave while you can. learn from Griffey, larkin , Davis and Robinson.

Trade him for not less than 3 first or second round picks. Then laugh as you watch chad stomp around on the sidelines yelling at the Redskins QB......

So does anybody else get a laugh when they read the post with the guy that thinks he is grilling mark, and doc, and "typical cincy media"?

Why be an @$$?

Just dont worry about it. I promise you, everything will be just fine. Just don't be a @$$.

As, far as Chad goes. I am not worrying to much about it any more. If he comes back, GREAT! If he leaves, we better get something good for him. I have the strangest feeling that this blog post isnt going to change any feelings, not chads, not marvins, not mike browns, not the fans, and most positively not ANON 8:49.

Having said that, Spaghetti!

I navigated my way to Cincinnati.com this morning to notice the headline "The Plot Thickens" in regards to Chad Johnson. I was disappointed (but not really surprised) to find that today's story about Chad is really the same story published YESTERDAY, only with a new title/headline. No new information. Thanks a ton Mark. That's the quality of work I expect from you.

People, this "plot" of Chad going to the Redskins is SO big that Sports Illustrated.com and ESPN.com have not made ANY mention of it what-so-ever in the past two days. Not one blurb. Maybe Mark has some actual journalistic skill or inside track that ESPN and SI don't have. Good thing I typed that last sentence and wasn't saying it. I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face. Mark is a hack.

What to get in return for Chad? How about Clinton Portis. Have the skins pay 8 mil of the first/second years of his contract and it would be a wash! See ya Rudy.

I didn't care when Chad danced after a touchdown, gave the football C.P.R., put on a jacket, climbed on the television camera mount. Just produce, as long as you produce, just score. Just win baby. As long as he helped the team, I didn't care if he parachuted off the Carew Tower. NOW he's HURTING the team. All that we've seen in the turnaround, and being in contention from year to year under Marvin, now Chad is making Cincy LESS attractive place for free agents and others who may have been thinking about coming here. He just got a RAISE from the already BIGTIME money he made before.

You want to sit, Chad? I say let him Sit for 3 years. I wouldn't take anything less than a lst round pick AND An impact player or a BOATLOAD of money, enough to more than offset the $8M Bengals will lose under salary cap, $8M they could be using to land another impact player. So unless they get WAY more for Chad than just a draft pick, and I mean way more, let his sorry carcass rot on the bench.

He used to help the Bengals, now he is hurting the Bengals.

Hilarious! Yeah, go to DC where things are 'so much better' than Cincy. HA! How about Philly, or Detroit while you're at it? Clueless, dude.

Im a redskins season ticket holder and have to say that BOTH our teams have the STUPIDEST owners in the league. The only thing we have to trade for chad is draft picks. Carter and Cooley just got a new signing bonuses so cross them off the list. Landry is our only safety and Portis has been running the team since he got here. Do we really have anything else you would want? NO. If the trade goes down, you can bet you wont be happy with your compensation, and chad will be the highest paid receiver in the league but suddenly have 40 catches a year. Of course he will only play 10 games a year too. Whatever my team does, it NEVER works. As for him wanting to win a superbowl, yes we trail two teams in our division, but last time I checked the AFC has 10-6 teams that dont get into playoffs. In our conference 9-7 gets you in EVERY year. Look at the Giants anyone can win once they are in. Anyone except the REDSKINS and BENGALS.

Dont worry Chad, give it a couple of weeks and Ken griffey jr. will become the "bad black athlete of Cincinnati" and the focus will shift to Griffey Jr. instead of you. that's how it works in cincinnati. remember when C. Trent Winbag tried to make Brandon Phillips the "bad black athlete"? it's all part of being a black athlete in cincinnati. that's just the way it is. Maybe Chad if you took drugs the media would have fallen in love with you the same way the fell in love with josh hamilton. maybe a couple of DUI charges could have gotten you a "dirty t-shirt night"? maybe not, you're black. IF YOU'RE WHITE, it's alright, IF YOU ARE BLACK, get back!!!!!!....

I REALLY hope they trade Chad Johnson. He's such a joke - it's hard for me to route for a team with a guy like him.

After reading Vanessa's comments, this sounds like the PERFECT spot for Ocho. Take whatever we can get in draft choices and, if allowed, money.

A CLASSIC CASE OF ADDITION BY SUBTRACTION.

Adios amigo. Enjoy Siberia D.C.

Anon 2-13 @8:05

Wow, so many inaccuracies in your post it is comical. That is a laugh out loud funny post.

First off Chad was Beloved in Cincinnati before he started demanding a trade. If you have been to ONE game the past 4 years, just take a look at all the :85" jerseys. Also listen to the North end zone when Chad runs down by himself during pre-game. Look at the lines when he made public appearances.

And how is Larkin in this mess? He is beloved in Cincinnati. The fans had a big role in landing him a huge contract in 2000 to a hefty 9 mil a year.

Also you left Dunn out of your mix. He puts up numbers every year but is killed by fans and media.....oh wait, he is white.

Ignorance breeds racism, and your post is ignorant.

Hey what does everybody think about the defensive line situation. I personally think if we are going to switch to -or try- a 3-4 Defense we may just want to keep Justin Smith. He is still a good run stopper and 3-4 ends are not as heavily relied on for having many sacks. If we can draft a big D-lineman and keep it with the front 7 for the first 2 rounds i think we could have a legit chance at moving to a bit of a 3-4. Ellis would be nice to pick up in the draft but he isnt quite 3-4 material. DRAFT THE BEST ON THE BOARD.

I really wonder how this race issue keeps coming up? Can one of the people who consistantly accuses people like myself of being racist how this is racism and prove it! I am sick of being judged by the color of my skin. It is unfair that people are treated this way. I know as a white man that i have hardly any room to talk but having said that, I can not recall a moment of rationalism that hasn't turned into a race issue. Who is the one discriminating.

All is quiet on the Chad front. No more national media to run his mouth too. When the combine starts and the NFL media types gather again watch for Chad and or the shark to come back out of hiding and start spewing their sensless rants. I want to see just one member of the media call these guys out in an interview on the money/ contract issue. It's all about money. Always has been and always will be. Chad does not care one little bit about winning, He would go to the Skins, Dolphins, or Raiders in a nanosecond if he could get the money. All of those teams are a lot further away from a Super Bowl than the team he is on. Yet Chad begs to go to one of those teams. Money, Money, money!

Chad, be a man and say, I only have a limited number of productive years left and I want to make as much money as I possibly can while I am on top. I know I sined a contract with the Bengals through 2011, but I got the money up front and now I am working for just over a million a year. I don't want to take a chance at becoming a free agent at 35 years old. Even if I somehow maintained my current production nobody would pay me long term and I would be screwed. If I can force a trade now I can squeeze another 20 million out of this carrer. If I stay put I may get stuck with only four or five million. If I have to make the Bengals and or Marvin look bad to get my money, the so be it. I am going to get paid.
