The Chad tour continues

Chad Johnson is at it again. The wide receiver is now lobbying for a trade to his hometown Miami Dolphins. (NFL Network, the league's in-house TV channel, aired the clip on one of its shows.)

And?

Where is this coming from? Could you be a little more specific. Some details would be nice. Either way, it ain't gonna happen.

Tuna wouldn't put up with half the BS we put up with when it comes to him. Trade him to Oakland. That'll teach him....

You know, Chad has all of the talent in the world. It's really too bad that he wastes so much effort crying like a little baby both on and off the field.

As many routes as he quit on last year I was shocked that Carson didn't throw a ball through his face mask. Trade him because I am sick and tired of his crap. TJ is the #1 WR on this time.

Hey Mark, can we get a source on this? I don't see anything about it on any of the big sport sites...

Folks, click the title. It's a link to a Youtube video off of NFL Network in which Chad makes the statement to some local sports guy.

If you click the title "Chad: Trade me to Dolphins", it links you to YouTube.

The comments are from WSVN out of Miami. I wouldn't even think about trading him unless we received a first round pick. Chad would be hard pressed to get 1,350 yards next season with Miami's quarterback situation. And what does it say about Chad that he would rather play for a 1-15 team with a horrible QB situation--albeit in his hometown--than with a 7-9 team with a franchise QB. At least Chad is focused on winning.

at 1/29/2008 3:48 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

PFT reported this same thing earlier in the week.

While he would be missed, we certainly don't need distractions on the team. Why keep people that don't want to be here?

at 1/29/2008 3:59 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wrong, it's the Cincy media at it again. Did you really listen to that short 10 second interview? Chad wasn't being serious, he was just playing to the local media. Lobbying...give me a break. Chad is the best player the Bengals have. The guy doesn't get in trouble and just wants to win. Lay off him. What the hell is the media's issue attacking quality guys like Chad and Griffey all the time? You don't like superstars in this city?

Click the link Idiot. That would be the source. As for Chad? Who cares. He is under contract.

at 1/29/2008 4:20 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

This is all speculated off his comments?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=TebMvv2JRnk

I think he's just playing to the media, but everybody knows he'd love to play in his hometown of Miami.

Whoever create this "story", please get a life and some professionalism and stop trying to create news.

You put this in quotes "Trade me to Dolphins". Nothing near that was ever said.

Is it any wonder Chad doesn't waste his time talking to local media?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

What is this the National Enquirer where you just make stuff up if it pleases you?

Maybe we can get a football PLAYER if the Bengals trade Chad. The Tuna will whip him into shape, change his diaper and make him into a man.

For Chad Johnson, I know you read all posts regarding yourself.

As a lifetime Bengals Fan and watching them lose year after year you were one of the bright spots on this otherwise drab team. When people would say you overated or a bad influence...I would tell them that you just wanted to win! But after watching the utube vido I finally understand....You have no class. That's why you will never be one of the all-time greats. Your selfish and not to bright! GO to Miami

Just like Cincinnati. A young black superstar made to feel unwelcome. He has been the biggest breath of fresh air this town has seen in years. Just because he is black and outspoken he has become a target for the typical ignorant boobs in this town.
Of course the media here flames it on. Chad is not the cause of the problems with the Bengals, he is a victim of it.

It is so disgusting how 2nd rate the Cincinnati media is. Why is it that a passing remark with no validity is blown so out of proportion? Is Mark Curnutte so desperate for hits to his blog that he is willing to make something out of nothing?

Heres what you do. Trade chad. We don't need him. Trade him to Miami for its #1 overall pick. Select Glenn

Chad isn't going to be traded or have his contract renegotiated. The Bengals re-did the contract twice already, so he's here until the end of the 2011 season when it expires. It's sad he doesn't realize what a negative effect he has on the team with his constant whinning and "me me me" actions.

Hey SickofChad, It's because of people like you that he wants to leave this city. I bet you blame this season on just chad and not the whole team. Just stay on your bandwagon because that is the only time you have anything to say.

Chad may be talented, but he is weak. Runs scared from a hit, drops the ball, can't catch across the middle. His game is completely between the numbers & the sideline...and please don't ask him to tackle someone after an interception....

Something has been strange ever since Carson and Chad went to the locker room at halftime of the Patriots MNF game earlier this year. Chad was being stupid that game and wouldn't admit he obviously ran a wrong route. Marvin Lewis has said Chad is going to be a Bengal next year but Chad still complains the organization doesn't have his back. TJ wouldn't be the receiver he is today without a player like Chad opposite him.

Cincinnati media is continuously trying to ‘cause problems. If it isn’t Daugerty, it is this amateur blogger and his boat shoes.

Get off his back. Any rift between Chad and the team is fairy tale created by the media.

at 1/29/2008 6:56 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

The media takes Chad far too serious and makes mountains out of mole hills. If this is all the Bengals have to worry about, we are really in trouble. How about more time talking about the real issues of the Bengals like defense...need for a tight end. better line play...more imaginative play calling. Enough of Chad talk. It's a very old story and going no where.

Dear Chad,
Please leave these fair weather finicky fans in Cincinnati and find a city that really admires your hard work and talent. They did the same thing with Corey Dillon, Boomer Esiason, and Sam Wyche. They had no problems with you when we were in double digit wins, now all of a sudden you are a distraction to the team. Same stuff they said with Corey, and he left and became a champion. Cincinnati wants you to shut up and run, not think or be your own person. I know you get fed up with working so hard just to lose. This is what I think, this is the same scenario that CD went through. The best player on the team at the time was sick of the attitude of Cincinnati and sick of losing. Once he began complaining about it people wanted him out of here. They then jumped on the Rudi Johnson bandwagon. This is the same scenario, you are corey and the rudi in this scenario is TJ. The stats tell it all. You are one of the premiere WR's in the NFL. Tell these fair weather traitors to kiss your ---.

at 1/29/2008 8:03 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

There is no reason for this 'blog entry' to be on the front page of your website. It is simply the Cincinnati media trying to tear apart a franchise.

A simple joke/comment on a local tv broadcast is nothing to pick apart.

Chad's agent is Drew Rosenhaus. If he wanted a trade, trust me - we'd be hearing about it!

at 1/29/2008 8:09 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

If Drew R. wants Chad to be traded, fine. Trade him to Miami for Ted Ginn and Channing Crowder.

I am amazed how many people still don't get the fact that Chad is an entertainer and always plays the audience. How fans can get worked up over his comments is beyond me. Talk about naive. Think about it....how and when has one single player ever screwed up an entire team? How about never. Time to move on is now. Relax....This amount of player bashing is simply silly....

Mark Curnutte you are really dumb. Stop trying to increase the hits you get on your blog by inflating and contorting this and other meaningless stories.
Chad isn't going anywhere especially with the price he has on his contract. Also even if he is a little unhappy do you really think that'll make him so unproductive that it will hurt our offense that bad? C'mon he's Chaaaaad Johnson baby.

at 1/29/2008 11:09 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Chad has a big mouth, we all know that. Chad is upset because he plays for a loser, don't blame him. BUT, you have a contract and make millions, shut up and play. If he keeps this up it will hurt the locker room, and could become the cancer he has been accused of. Obviously he is a top 5 wide out and I am only open to trading him for what he is worth and that is a #1 pick. THIS AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN, BUT... if the Dolphins would give up their #1 for Chad, do it. You still have HOUSH who is a top 12 wide out, and Henry (if he matures) who could be as good as Chad if given the opportunity. Take the #1 and trade down to the mid 1st round and mid third round. That leaves you at #9 to get a DT/DE, and a #15 to #22 to get the other DT/DE. Take the extra third round and get the TE you all are saying we need, and with the few extra picks via compensation you still have enough to fill 3 or 4 other holes like offensive line. Other than that, I wouldn't trade him!!!!

at 1/29/2008 11:26 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anyone who thinks TJ is a better receiver than Chad is INSANE. TJ directly benefits every time Chad is on the same field as him. Chad leaving would only speed up the steady decline of this offense.

TJ would get the top cover corner against every team the Bengals played. That has disaster written all over it. He is NOT a #1 receiver!!!

Anti, I don't believe Chad has ever boasted about his intelligence, just his passion for the game. A passion, sadly, that not everyone in the Bengal's locker room (including coaches) has.

As for yourself, please check your grammar before posting, in particular, your use of the words "your" and "to." I will give you the benefit of the doubt, like you should with CJ, and assume you meant "you're" and "too."

It would be iffy if the bengals could even get miami's 1st pick in the second round for chad. The bengals should cut their losses and get him out of town. He is becoming a cancer and more than one player has mentioned this fact, both white and black.

Also, this is a legit story. The story ran on the NFL Network. That was the media that was discussing it. The video was from a local miami tv station, the clip then aired on NFL Network.

Finally, any ignorant SOB that brings up race in this issue is absolutely the dumbest individual in the world. You my friend are why racism exists, because everything is about race to you. This guy just told the media he wants to be traded and you don't think bengals fans will be upset. If carson palmer did this white fans would be upset. Chad is a malcontent who should be dropped like a bad habit.

Let it go, he's just having fun with the media. To all the "haters" stop being so conservative, Cincinnati needs some showmanship, and attitude, and he's still a great receiver.

2nd round : OT
3rd round : WR
4th round : CB

you all are so ignorant. Mark does not do yellow journalism. as a journalist from Columbus, after having lived in Cincinnati for 21 years Mark is dead on for posting this. The problem with trading chad is...no one wants him. They have seen the problems he has created here in CIncinnati, and surprise not too many people want to take a shot on him. He is just like TO and Moss. TO went to Dallas and was only happy when they were winning. He almost tore the team up again with his Jessica comments. Moss just decided to not play while he was in oakland. Thats a positive. It is not a race thing it is a self image thing. Chad has gone from one of the best WO who helped the team win to the one of the best stat WO in the league. He has run wrong routes this year. Remember the report he got into a fight at half time during the play off game. How many games did chad drop a ball or stop a route short this year. do you think that had anything to do with a 7-9 season. true the defense did not help this team at all, i am sure my self and 10 of you readers could have had the same results but cincinnati is an offensive team. and who ever said TJ is not a #1, what ever happened to the comments by all national writers that cincinnati has two#1 guys who could go any where and be the number 1 guy. chad has gotten better because he had a great guy on the other side of the field and a great QB throwing to the two of them. If you think Mark is such a joke why don't you try and go to the Enquirer and ask for his job, don't forget to bring your resume and some writing samples, and don't forget to mention which school of journalism you graduated from or where you got your speech degree with an interest in writing tv and radio on it. grow up haters of some thing that does not mesh with you. The enquirer will not fire Mark because as much as you hate this story 70 have already commented on it and the big wigs like seeing so much traffic to the site.

Try and trade him to the Dolphins for Ginn Jr and a 3rd rounder. That will give us a true punt and kick returner.

I thought in the beginning of the Marvin Lewis era he said he didn't want a player that didn't want to be here, aka Spikes. So stay true to your word and ship Chad out.

Much ado about nothing. Chad loves being outrageous and sometimes goes too far. So what? It's unbelievable that fans want him gone. He has the numbers, year after year, to prove he's one of the best wide receivers in the game. It's not like this team is loaded with talent. Deal with it.

I've tried to post on this before but either Blogger ate my comment, or it was rejected.

I watched the video. It is much ado about nothing. I view his comments as playing up to the South Florida media -- nothing serious. I assume every other media outlet views it the same way because the Enquirer is the only outlet reporting this faux story.

If Mark would respond, I'd just ask why he thinsk this is real or meaningful news.

- You are an idiot. Since this story was posted, chad has gone on two national radio shows, including Jim Rome. Both shows he said that it hasn't worked in cincy, he wants out, they won't let him be him. He told Rome he would rather sit with him next year than play for the bengals.

Please defend chad now, and please continue to say curnutte is fishing for stories.

Chad's making himself more and more radioactive. He's past the point of becoming a cancer. The first game of the season with the HOF jacket, he officially became a buffoon. Then he pouted when the Bengals started losing, and the cameras looked in another direction.

I;d love to see the Bengals trade him staight up for a guy like Jason Taylor, let CJ take his old and sorry act out on the road. UNfortunately when was the last time the Bengals made a significant trade? uh....Coy Bacon, maybe? 1970s...which is why next season will likely be one more Lost Season of Discontent.

Oh for the blogger playing race cards on this one, you've got some serious delusional thinking going on. Might wanna practice what you preach and not prejudge others. The only racist remarks I've seen here are yours. The vision of persecution towards Chad that you claim to see is clouded by your own thirst for finding victimization under every rock. Grow up and quit whining. You make mockery of the wonderful work of Martin Luther King.

Chad Johnson is a great football player most of the time, but off the field he is a victim only of his own stupidity and immature need for attention. He has become a parody of himself. Read Paul Doc's book to understand his history and why he continually shoots himslf in the foot, then sticks it in his mouth.

Only in Bengalland with Mike Brown as the Great White Enabler does this horse bleep keep happening. Pickens, Scott, Dillon, on and on and on. Maybe if Mike left the lily-white safety of Indian Hill for a year or two and moved down to OTR, he might toughen up, row some cajones, and put a stop to this junk. But then that would call for him to show the brains and toughness of his father, and I don't think he got that gene.

Can you imagine what Paul B.'s reaction would be to Johnson's crybaby act? SEEEE YAAAAAAAAAAAA.....GONE>>>WHOOOOSH. Which is why Paul won and Mike just as masterfully loses.

Should i gion or do you want me to further prove your racial bias? Thought so........Hypocrite, lying, double standard having DINK. Get Real or GET Lost.....love your name though......just like a Cincinnatian.......an OLDTIMER.....you probably hated Frank Robinson too.

1:56 Anon,

You are the biggest problem Cincinnati has. You perpetuate a problem that isn't even there. There is no racial bias towards Chad Johnson. This is about him talking bad about our city, our team, and telling everyone he wants to leave. If that is the case he can take his ass elsewhere. This is true if he is white or black.

I have been a great distance away from Cincinnati for four years at college. When I continue to here people drum the race tune in Cincinnati it makes me want to find another place to go when I graduate. Maybe these types are the reason Cincinnati's population, and Ohio's, is shrinking.

Crawl back into the hole you came from.

usually you have to wait for a response before posting a THOUGHT SO... I have heard enough of this racist bull----! What is the deal. So someone who was my favorite player up until i heard the Jim Rome interview is leaving town. I hate what this city has done to Chad and I know that this city really does like him more than they would admitt. Even though 1:56 was a pretty stupid angry man that is just as much the reason any player is anywhere it is pretty twisted that this city Loves players regardless of there record unless they come across slightly "Hood, Urban, or what ever". Although, hamilton WAS WAS WAS an addict recovering. This city would have been the same if it was Odell or Henry (they just continue to repeat the offenses). IS THIS A GOOD PLACE FOR A "THOUGHT SO..."???

Chad was not a cancer... our defensive unit was... paul brown is... marvins ability to be a game manager... rudi's new found speed and agility (or lack there of)... henrys first 8 games (or lack there of)... wait... it has to be Chad... he argued with Carson and did endzone dances... yep it was chad???

Your just as crazy as chad if you think this city has done anything to him. act like a man and get treated like a man, just another black receiver that cant fit in with the rest of society.

Of course the media here flames it on. Chad is not the cause of the problems with the Bengals, he is a victim of it."

First of all what you say is an insult to all of the successful black athletes who have made it here.

Secondly, people are giving him crap about being such a whiner.

Thirdly, a victim you say? He looks like a real victim driving around that fancy sports car of his. Yeah I'd like to be 'victimized' by being paid ridiculous amounts of money to play a game. Please, victimize me!!!

The Bengals, especially Marvin, are just as guilty as Johnson himself for what he has become. They are enablers of his behavior. What were the repurcussions this year of the HOF jacket, Dawg Pound, and fumble pouting embarrassments? Marv gives him a pat on the helmet as he walks off the field, and recently a fat contract extension. They created, then enabled, this monster.
