Do the Bengals actual practice defense and special teams? It seems to me that every year it's the same issues: poor tackling and mental lapses. I guess we should just "turn the page" or "move forward"...maybe it's time to "move on"!

Why does this team have the same issues with the defense... no matter who the coach is... It is mind boggling to me how many no name QB the Bengals have allowed to make them look bad.... No matter who the coach is...remember Bobby Hoying.. 400+ yards and noone has heard anything from him since.. How can a team seem so unprepared for a division opponent that they play twice a year.. I guarantee you if Derek Anderson started against Pittsburgh .. the Steelers would have found away to exploit the inexperience of a young QB... but not the Bengals..it is the the opposite.. the young and inexperienced QB makes them look bad and will likely never have a game like that again..It really makes you wonder how prepareed this team is to play week in and week out... last year Tampa Bay new QB made the Bengals look bad and they lost.. No matter who coaches the Bengals they don't seem to be able to exploit the weaknesses of the other team... Marvin Lewis is lucky he has Chad and Carson and TJ or this team would really suck...This defense does not need ot be great for the Bengals to have a great year...but It gets old to see teams toy with Bengals on first and second down and no matter how many yards the opposition needs on third dwon it doesn't seem to matter. they get the first down..

Do you know how bad Brooks groin injury is?

The defense needs him, so Im hoping he can play this week.

Ah, and so the accusations of "fair weather fans!" begin already. Let me say this about you "true blue" Bengals fans. When I first moved here, in 2001, the Bengals home games were never televised because the stadium was never sold out. But, going by anecdotal evidence, there are about 123,000 people who say they've been TRUE Bengals fans and attended every game since Paul Brown brought them to town. Give me a break. When a team and its fanbase celebrate less than three full seasons of sellouts (as the Bengals and the local media do), you have all the info you need about a team's fans.

Hey Al in Ohio, did it ever occur to you that someone may be a "true" Bengal fan all those years but could not afford to shell out $150 per game? Or like me, I was in College at the time in Florida. I followed the Bengals religiously but that is a long commute to make 8 times a year plus I was in college and broke. So I guess you’re not a “TRUE” Bengal fan if your poor.

The Bengals D is hurting because of the continued absence of Odell Thurman, the offseason losses of Brian Simmons and Kevin Kaesviharn, and the continued absence of Ethan Kilmer. Once Kilmer and Ahmad Brooks are back, the D will be adequate. With the Bengals high-powered O, the D doesn't have to be great, just average, but any defense is going go look bad unless they generate a pass rush, and the Bengals can't seem to get anything going these days. Their blitzes off the edge never work and expose them to the deep ball. They should stick with the cover 2, and forget blitzing.

Brandon, obviously I'm not claiming that people who were geographically removed from Ohio should have attended the games all of those years. And, I'm pretty sure that tickets to Bengals games didn't cost $150 during the 80s and 90s. But, how do you explain that there are teams all over the NFL, who haven't been all that successful, but sell out every week? Take Green Bay, for example. The Packers were miserable during the 70s and 80s, but haven't had an unsold ticket since Opening Day in 1960. Are people in Wisconsin more wealthy? Your train of thought doesn't seem to have a caboose, my friend.

A key loss their on special teams is Ethan Kilmer. Once he gets into the lineup our special teams won't be as garbage. If you ever saw him last year he all over the field on special teams.
