Offense vs. offense

Palmer now has five touchdown passes, a career high. Chad Johnson is having a great game. TJH has two touchdowns. The offense of the Bengals is definitely churning. But can the defense get a stop -- a big stop -- it will likely need to win this game? That's basically what it's come to as we approach the fourth quarter.

41-38 Browns. Clock ticking down on the third.

FYI: Palmer is 23-for-27. The five touchdown passes tie a team record. Boomer did it twice. The Bengals are still losing.

Great catch: Lousy defense. Methinks the defensive players read a few too many kind words about themselves leading up to this game. Either that or they didn't practice defense this week. That was a zone (or at least it looked like one) on that touchdown pass. Someone missed an assignment bigtime. 48-38 Browns.

It's gymnastics!: Kellen Winslow just did a cartwheel on the field during the game as Jamal Lewis rumbled to the 23 yard line. Maybe Winslow was so happy about the Browns scoring as many points as they've scored since 1989.

Slim hope: Palmer just threw his team-record sixth touchdown pass in a drive that took a little more than two minutes. The Browns might regret settling for that field goal...if the Bengals D can do something here.

The Bengals should consider bringing in a kicker who can drive the ball into the end zone, even if it's the only thing he does. These special teams are awful!

This defense is disgraceful.

If this is what we get after 4 years of Marvin Lewis defense then we are the suckers Mike Brown always thought we were.

The "worst" team in the league is running wild through the Bengals defense.

This defense has given up. no fight.... changes must be made or we might not even be an 8-8 team. Very dissapointing.

This is the worst defense in the league. I don't know if it's the players or the scheme, but it's not working at all. The defense has given up!

I'm done with this team. I think Temple's defense could put up a better fight. Disgraceful. Embarrasing. Pathetic. I need a thesarus to come up with enough to say about this. Marvin better be ready to take some heat. The media needs to stand up and say what needs to be said. Coach ain't gettin' it done.

I'm sure the media will give Marvin Lewis another pass for this disaster. There is absolutely no question he should be fired today. There is absolutely no excuse for a playoff contender (at least that's what the pundits said) to be totally manhandled by the worst team in the league. Who is accountable? In his 5th year at the helm, the defensive genius is a total bust.

The offense should call out the defense after this performance today. It appears that our "D" thought they were 1985 Bears.

Has it come to that? Maybe I'll forward the recipe to our Foodie bloggers if I can convince the catering staff to divulge it.

whatever... yall dont really know what you are talking about... Shayne is outstanding, and Marv is outstanding... the defense is weak because we dont place pressure as in blitzing... yea a pathetic loss in the beginning of the season... our real fluke was last monday...

I have to say that last week I thought the Ravens essentially beat themselves. With those 3 fumbles in the first 3 drives (some of which the Bengals didn't even have anything to do with), the Ravens gave the Bengals D momentum. But again, I thought they beat themselves, and that the Bengals D was solid but certainly not that great.
I guess this confirms it... What a disgrace!

Why didn't Lewis challenge the spot on the third down play late. He couldn't challenge the fumble but he sure should have the spot. I've replayed it three times and the reciever was stopped a half yard short!!!!!!!!!!!! We could have gotten the ball back with 3 mins ++ left.*#$%^@$^%$@^$@

i must say the defense disgusted me today, but i'm even more disgusted by hearing 'fans' like you all. since you all know so much, one would think you'd understand that it's only one game -- but then again, i'm sure you were pretty happy after monday night's game. how quickly they turn...maybe its' time you all found another bandwagon to jump on.
