Chad gets Thursday off

As has been the habit, wide receiver Chad Johnson is being rested from practice today. He has not practiced on a Thursday for more than a month.

First it was an ankle injury and then the neck strain.

Tight end Reggie Kelly and safety Madieu Williams are on the field. Safety Herana-Daze Jones is supposed to be, as well, coach Marvin Lewis said Wednesday.

I am a huge Chad Johnson fan. I think he is an amazing NFL player and an amazing person off the field. Having said that, I think that he should be on the field just the same as everyone else. If he is genuinely still recovering from hits that he suffered several weeks in a row, then fine. If not, he deserves no special treatment.
Also, from previous fans blogs, they have said that Chad Johnson should be the third wideout based on talent. That is rediculous, he is one of the most talented and gifted atheletes in pro sports today. Noone can mimik him, noone can immitate him, he truly is the one and only Chad.

Re: Who's the Man?

When newspaper stories begin with thoughts from sportstalk radio callers, it is not so hard to see why Marvin Lewis looks down on the media.

Can someone, anyone, explain to me how Ricky Williams has been reinstated, but O'Dell was not? It's amazing to me that the league doesn't give a little more reasoning in their releases for these situations. I can't see how they could reinstate Ricky with his disregard for the leagues policies, and for that matter the laws of The United States of America. I lost a great deal of respect for Commissioner Goodell on this one.

Its not special treatment.
Other players that are banged up have been allowed to sit out of practice before.

In today's story, Rudi Johnson is quoted as saying that with his leg still recovering, it makes it impossible to "do everything you need to do." That being the case, why is he on the field? The Bengals are not in a position where they can have a player who's capable of doing only "some" of the things he needs to do.

Ryan I think the answer is simple. Ricky Williams has kept his butt clean for 18 months and passed all of his test and followed the guidelines set forth. The same cannot be said for Odell Thurman as he missed an appointment w/ the probation department the week before he applied for re-instatement, not a smart thing to do. And that is what we know about, can only guess what we might know but consider who we're talking about. Remember Odell was known to abuse in college.

Odell should HAVE TO do EVERYTHING perfect in order to be reinstated.

I have no problem with Chris Henry being reinstated, but unless Odell is an absolute model citizen, he shouldn't expect to get the OK. The Bengals and the NFL shouldn't want him to get it if he isn't perfect anyway.

Robert Young... Ricky failed a drug test in April.. This is why a great deal of Bengal fans are P'O'ed at Goodell between letting Tank Johnson practice in Dallas under suspension long before Henry was allowed and now this.. Ricky will fail another test before Odell is reinstated next July... Bet the house on it..
