Wednesday injury report, notes

Bengals official injury report for Wednesday:

Did Not Participate in Practice
LB Ahmad Brooks, groin
WR Antonio Chatman, hamstring
HB Rudi Johnson, hamstring
TE Reggie Kelly, ankle
LB Corey Mays, hamstring
LB Caleb Miller, back
S Madieu Williams, back

Limited Participation in Practice
OT Willie Anderson, knee

Full Participation in Practice
LB Rashad Jeanty, shin
DE Jonathan Fanene, knee

-- Head coach Marvin Lewis said he was pleased to see Jeanty on the field today and said Miller had the chance to return Thursday. Lewis also said he was not surprised that Anderson has come back quickly.

-- Lewis said Robert Geathers (an end) is now a linebacker and will play linebacker Sunday against the Jets. "He is a linebacker now," Lewis said. "As permanent as right now can be. ... Robert has all the athletic skills you want."

-- Lewis and quarterback Carson Palmer said the offense worked extra in practice today on third-down plays. They are 1 for 18 converting third downs in the past two games.

-- Wide receiver Tab Perry, out for the season after being placed Tuesday on the injured reserve list, had surgery Tuesday on his hip in the hope of getting it "fixed" for good.

-- Safety Ethan Kilmer, placed on IR Tuesday, as well, probably will not need any more surgery on his knee, Lewis said.

-- Levi Jones, coming off his poor showing Sunday, in which he allowed 2.5 sacks to Chiefs end Jared Allen, will start Sunday against the Jets, Lewis said. "He's a pro, very prideful young man," Lewis said of Jones. "We're counting on him to bounce back."

-- Palmer quote: "We're disappointed but not depressed" by the 1-4 start.

Wow. Nice blog, Curnutte. Did you just copy / paste this thing from Bengals.com? How about some analysis? Some insight? What does it mean that Geathers is now a linebacker? Seriously. Just cause the bengals are 1-4 doesn't mean that you should just mail it in.

I bet Geathers will play so well as a LB we will all forget that his maiden name was Reinard Wilson

How is practicing '3rd down' plays any different than 1st or 2nd down plays? Do they perform them slower and with less intensity during 3rd down under normal circumstances? Maybe that's why they blow at conversions.

Wow anonymous, nice insight. Apparently you don't know jack about football. Every offense has certain plays they want to run on third down to solidify a first down based on distance. 1st and 2nd down plays are designed to make 3rd down easier.

Hey,
Don't pick on Mark. He has the worst job in the NFL -- reporting on the Bengals. If they lose this week the season is over and Mark will be able to write about the stupid pick the Reds made for manager. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS SPORTS TOWN....WHAT IS GOING ON....WILL WE EVER WIN AT ANYTHING AGAIN!!!!!
(just a note to readers -- i think the bengals will win sunday and use that to propel themselves back into the playoffs. :)

Brown's Clowns is the name my Steelers friends and I have coined for these idiots. The BenGALS have turned the NFL into the WWE. Here is a player by player run down of the Marvin Lewis traveling circus:
Chad- the mouth- who knows how to paint him, one quarter he is happy clown, the next pouty clown, then the one after that he may be sleepy clown. Maybe invisible clown is the best thing for this team.
TJ- Grumpy clown- always yelling at the ref, always with that scowl as if he has been wronged. According to TJ, no reciever in the NFL has been held, interfered with, or bumped more than him.
Rudi- LL Cool J clown- guy just reminds me of LL. What guy spells his name with an i at the end who isn't Italian? Traci, Candi?
Justin- lazy clown- only plays in years his contract is up.
D-line- keystone cop clowns- nuff said
Linebacking core- gimpy clown- can't fault them for getting hurt.
Chris Henry- delinquent clown- put him in stripes and paint on a "duh" face. arrested while wearing his own jersey, it doesn't get any more clown than that.
Shayne Graham- eager hillbilly boy clown- hey coach, I wanna go down there and make tackles on kickoffs, and take advantage of the "no hitting the kickers rule", can I can I can I can I can I?
Willy- lovable old guy- I love Willy but he is too old and slow. Breaks my heart.
Mike Brown- money bags clown- paint him as the taxman or some other financially motivated bad guy.
Bengal fans- drunk whipping boy clowns- these are the biggest clowns of all. Not realizing how badly they have had it put to them and continuing to believe that he team they root for cares about them at all. I can't count the number of Who Dey heads I have recruited to the dark side by just taking them to a game at Heinz. One game there, and you realize what true fan friendly ownership is all about. Keep believeing your failures have anything to do with injury, east coast conspiracies and whatever nonsense you guys try to use to explain the failure of this franchise. Keep it up who dey heads, we love laughin at ya.

Honestly, when are Bengals fans gonna wise up and realize that this franchise is terrible? Marvin is totally overrated and Mike Brown only hired him because the NFL practically made him. See, the other owners of the division were really beginning to complain that Mike was operating under the cap while they spent to the cap and beyond during those years of doom in Cincy. Problem is, a team like the Steelers would come to town and fill PBS with its own fans. What most folks do not know is the home team takes 60% of the gate, visitors 40%. So when the GALs were going to other stadiums, stadiums that sold out (even for the GALs games, sheesh) because their owners put quality on the field, the Mikey would take 40% of that. So the other owners figured out that they were basically lining mikeys pockets while he sat back and took it. In the meantime, the NFL was under a good deal of pressure at the time for more african american coaches. This is all theory but I woul;d not be surprised if the NFL didn't go to Mikey Mike and tell him that he needed to hire a minority, and go hands off. It is a theory, but one I feel really good about and if you go back and check the articles and events in the days and weeks leading up to Marvin's hire, this theory will make sense.
Problem now is, Marvin has had total autonomy in who he hires, brings in etc, something no other GALs coach has had under Mikey Mike, and he has failed. Thanks in no part to Mikey Mike still not hiring a general manager and any kind of scout personnel to speak of. So really, you folks who love Marvin, should hate Mikey Mike because I believe this was temporary, this Bengal resurgence. Mike wants the Gals to do badly because of revenue sharing and the tv contracts. he makes the same amount of money whether they suck or are good, in fact, I would argue he makes more money when they suck because he does not have to pay for talent.
So who dey heads be prepared for another long hard stretch of years because Mike has sandbagged Marvin, and this takes the heat off him. Marvin will be fired, and your next coach will be some Dave Shula bargain. As a Steelers fan, I love it. Means I can see at least one Steeler home game a year (at PBS of course) amongst the truest most knowledgable non clown fans in the leagues, my Steeler nation! Keep dreaming and drinking who dey heads, bunch of morons.

Execution is a term normally reserved for prisoners on death row. This does not bode well for the Bengals.

You spend a lot of time on this BENGALS blog for a Stealers fan. Is that because the real stealers fans on the stealers blog are mean to you. I can go over there and tell them to stop if you like.

Can some Steelers fan tell me how having a well run organization to cheer for somehow makes the fans more knowledgeable about football? My 6 year old son is tired of rooting on a loser and is now a Patriots fan. His football IQ has skyrocketed and now he is drawing up plays and will be the on-field offensive coordinator for his youth league team! Maybe those Steeler fans are on to something!

The intelligence of the Steelr fan, versus the BenGAL fan, is apparent in the very fact that a BenGAL fan is still.... a BenGAL fan. Nuff said.
