Must-win game
The Bengals are trying to become just the sixth team to open the season 1-4 since 1990 and still make the playoffs. That year the NFL expanded to its 12-team postseason format.
The 1992 Chargers, 1993 Oilers, 2002 Jets and Titans and 2004 Packers all started 1-4 and made the playoffs; 78 other teams that started 1-4 from 1990 through 2006 did not.
Those five teams all won their sixth games to improve to 2-4 en route to the postseason.

This could be a painful game between two horrible teams. Raking the lawn sounds more exciting at this point. I'll wait until halftime.
This is a must-lose game for the Bengals.
First, they must lose because the Jets are BETTER, and have a better coach, and will be better prepared to play, and to win.
Second, they must lose so that the dumb fans in this town realize just how bad Mo Lewis is, and how pathetic Mike Brown is.
Who else is responsible for assembling a defense like this? And an offense that is limited to TJ end arounds when they should be BOMBING downfield to the wideouts.
Stupid team,
Stupid coach,
Stupid owner,
Idiotic fans (those who make excuses for the Bengals)
Oh look! Jets throw a long pass and score a TD.
How many long passes will the Bengals' loser coaches call today?
Finally, a long pass from the Bengals.
It's about time you stupid coaches!
False start = stupid player.
Levi Jones, get the hell out of the NFL you moron!
Chad Ocho Droppo needs to be traded for a great defensive player.
Thank you Jets. And good second half Bengals. Although all the complaints (above) are still valid. And Pittsburgh next week won't give us any assist like NY did today.
