Lyrics of the Day

Elizabeth Ann (Mueller) Curnutte
Aug. 16, 1929-Oct. 26, 2006

But take good care of your mother
And remember to be kind
When the pain of another will serve you to remind
That there are those who feel themselves exiled
On whom the fortune never smiled
And upon whose life the heartache has been piled
They're just looking for another
Lonely child
-- Jackson Browne,
"The Lonely Child"

God is in the roses
the petals and thorns
storms out on the ocean
the souls who will be born
and every drop of rain that falls
falls for those who mourn
God is in the roses
and the thorns.
-- Rosanne Cash,
"God is in the Roses"

I am assuming this is possibly your mother who has passed away. I want to send my thoughts to you and your family, this is a very painful event to go through. Take comfort in your family and forget this blog for a bit.

My thought and prayers...

Mark --

I trust you've heard the new Bruce album several timers over by now...there's a beautiful (unlisted) tribute song at the end of the album called "Terry's song," the closing line of each chorus is "When they made you, brother, they broke the mold." I imagine you might think of your mom when hearing it...

Mark, another lyric on love and loss and love again, one I think of often as it relates to my daughter, from the Boss man:

I was young and I didnt know what to do/When I saw your best steps stolen away from you/But I'll do what I can/I'll walk like a man.

Thanks for this AM's perspective and JB's great lyric...

Thoughts and prayers Mark. Having lost both parents the past few years I know how tough this can be. For me the hardest part is when I see something of interest is the thinking I should call Dad about this; oh I can't. Still having a hard time w/ that.

I'm a Steeler fan from Lancaster Ohio who reads your columns/blogs nearly every day. I treasure every day with my 79 year old Mother and want to express sympathy at your loss. Keep up your good work as you are a true pro at what you do.

Thoughts and prayers,
Keith Wharton
