Bengals-Bills stat line

This game is very winnable for the Bengals. They have to win, really. Then they head to Baltimore, where they have had great success and are not intimidated by the Ravens.

But it would be tough to win in Baltimore if the Bengals lose at Buffalo and head there at 2-6.

Bengals / Bills NFL rankings (Per game average points or yards)
Points scored 6 (25.2) / 29 (13.9)
Points allowed 31 (30.1) / 13 (19.3)
Total offense 5 (360.9) / 31 (246.0)
Rush offense 21 (97.0) / 20 (100.3)
Pass offense 5 (263.9) / 31 (145.7)
Total defense 31 (385.4) / 30 (381.3)
Rush defense 28 (139.0) / 24 (127.9)
Pass defense 28 / (246.4) / 29 (253.4)
Turnover differential T-20 (minus-1) / T-4 (plus-7)

If we dont win this one, they may as well all go home and let the 3rd stringers get some time on the filed for the remainder of this year.

Here's a stat. The Bengals haven't beat the Bills since beating them twice in 1988 season. They are 0-8 since then. Three of those losses hav come under Marvin Lewis.

No wonder this game is the only game on CBS not in HD. Who would want to see these two lame excuses for NFL teams in high definition, further accentuating their flaws?

I'm a Bils' fan and I'm rooting for the Bills. But our offense is pathetic. The offense scored only 3 points in the Dallas game that we lost. Cincy will have to have a total collapse to lose, unless our offense suddenly comes alive.

The season is probably lost anyway, but … whatever slim hope of playoffs hangs on this game.
If you claw to 3-5 and some pieces finally come back healthy (Henry, Rudi Johnson, Anderson, Brooks and then down the road Chris Perry), there may be something salvageable out of the season.
The likelihood if they lose is the season is toast.

Mark:

Over the last 4 games the Bills have gone 3-1 beating the Jets twice, the Ravens, and losing to Dallas by 1. They have lost to the Steelers and Patriots, so they have played the same competition as the Bengals, If Buffalo gets up by 10 before half time watch out. The Bengals will come out throwing and sure enough there will be some dropped 3rd down passes and Buffalos corners will jump T.J.’s routes over the middle. I watched Buffalo 2 weeks ago against Dallas and they did everything except win. The Bengals seem to be playing for a better schedule next year where they can play teams of their caliber. At 3-4 the Bills will want this win to get to .500 at 2-5 The Bengals want another “bye week”.

They'll have a better chance winning on the road because the home crowd won't be booing them. There will only be about five Bengal fans at the game so when they boo, the Bengals won't hear them. WHO DEY!!!

We will lose both games. We suck. Fire Lewis

We haven't won a road game in how long? And now we are going to win 2 in a row? Doubtful, but that't why they play the games.

Mark,

I have to give you credit. While I know you do your job well, and stay non partial, you do seem to remain realistic, yet optomistic.

I do agree with you.

Actually, the next 3 games are very winnable for the Bengals.

Let's face it...loosing to Pittsburgh at home has been a 7 year run, so nothing new. Still tough to take, but I think there's been enough bashing this week. Time to move on. The two games that really hurt were the Browns and Chiefs losses. Both in the Conference, and one in the division. With those two, the Bengals could realistically be 3-3.

Playoffs are a longshot, but at least they can play for respect with 9 games left.

What have we seen to this point to make anyone think the bengals will win this game Sunday?
Do you think the Rams and Dolphins have circled their games with the Bengals as a chance to elevate themselves to our status....
Methinks we have a top 5 pick again (which Mikey will want to trade in order to avoid paying him)...

Two Things:
First, I dont think the Bengals are a bad team, I think they are a broken team. Difference is, that a bad team lacks talent and direction. This team has talent (on the offense), and direction. The offensive line is playing better, Third downs have improved and in the last 3 games, the defense has held opponents to 3 points in the 2nd half (Except for a junk touchdown to the jets). We just need to fix our touchdown problem and a few other things. This team has not taken its sites off the playoffs and still believes that it can achieve that.
Second thing:
Can we quit putting Pittsburgh on a pedistal, acting like we need to be like Pittsburgh, its pathetic.
Later, Steazil.

Bengals will lose this one, no incentive to win.

Same old defense coach who puts 10 players out for a play (supposed to have 11).

Zip to post game interview w/Marvin Lewis: "We played a consistent game, just came up short, giving the guys 2 days off after this one, they worked very hard"

Marshawn Lynch is looking at 200 yards, maybe 250...

Buffalo's offense is more than enough to derail the Bengals...

Even the Jets offense managed to do so for 3 quarters...and the Jets have no offense...

Face it Bengal faithfulls we have a bad team. We will lose to the Bills 24-17. Talent doesn't win ball games team work does & the Bengals just don't have that.

The best comment was made by 3:13pm... Whenever I see the Bills on the schedule I guarantee a loss for the Bengals. They just can't beat the Bills. The Bills offense may be suspect, but they Lynch and Evans will have big days. PLEASE DO NOT ASSING LEE EVANS TO LEON HALL!!!! The Bills have too much talent on D (especally at corner). Watch out for McGhee & Parish in the punt/kick return game also. Dumbkowski needs to be more creative and brave in his play calling against the Bills. I'm suprised Edwards won't suit up even thought he's injured. Heck, everyone plays against the Bengals so they can pad their stats. Losman will go deep in the game (thats his strong point).

It's obviously not a runaway. The Vegas line went from 2 point spread to 1 with the Bengals as the favorite today. One stat that stands out to me is the Bills are +7 in turnovers to the Bengals -1. If the Bengals aren't in sync on the offensive side, this could be a long day
