Bengals sign CB Blue Adams to 2-year deal

The Bengals this afternoon announced that they had signed NFL veteran cornerback Blue Adams to a two-year contract. He played college ball at the University of Cincinnati.

He has played three years in the NFL, one in Jacksonville and the last two for Tampa Bay.

Adams has played in 37 games with 36 tackles. He played in 29 games for the Buccaneers the past two seasons.

He was a tryout participant in the Bengals' rookie minicamp this past weekend.

Adams (5-10, 184) is a Miami, Fla., native who posted a career-best 19 special teams tackles for Tampa Bay last season, ranking third on the team. He had three stops on Oct. 15 against the Bengals, tied for his season high.

He became a restricted free agent on March 2 of this year, but did not sign with another team by the April 23 RFA deadline. He still had had not signed Tampa Bay’s tender offer as of April 30, when the Bucs withdrew the tender and relinquished his rights. He played 13 games for Tampa Bay in 2005, and played eight games for Jacksonville as a rookie in 2003. He was not with an NFL club during the 2004 regular season.

Adams was at the University of Cincinnati from 1998-2002, including a medical redshirt year in 1999. He was named the Bearcats’ most valuable defensive player as a senior in 2002 and first entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft choice of Detroit in 2003.

Adams was one of three veteran players who participated on an unsigned basis in last weekend’s Bengals rookie minicamp.

I liked Blue when he played at UC - seemed to make plays in the secondary.

Good pick up for the Bengals.

Mark,

You do a good job, but your sport jacket and slacks need to be taken up abit. Your jacket is supposed to come to the middle of the palm of your hand, your pants are supposed to "break" once before resting on your shoes.

Concerned in Liberty Township,

Give Mark a break, he probably wears whatever is on sale. So what if his pants are a little long and the jacket is a little short. The man does a good job of coverage where it counts, reporting.

Actually, I think Mark has to wear clothes that don't fit because George Bush has caused the price of new men's wear to skyrocket due to his failed apparel policy.

Everybody praises the UC connection - and forgets to criticize the lack of an OSU connection. The Bengals would have been way better off drafting Troy Smith in the 4th round. That would have sold a lot of jerseys and tickets.

Mike Brown's top motivation is obviously money - not winning. And his biggest weakness is marketing. A little would go a long way to your neglected fans.
