Team wraps up rookie minicamp

The Bengals held their fifth and final practice of rookie minicamp this morning inside Paul Brown Stadium.

They added tight end Tim Euhus as a tryout candidate. He was drafted in 2004 by Buffalo out of Oregon State and played in one game for the Steelers in 2006.

At a post-practice news conference, coach Marvin Lewis said he was pleased with the overall performance, happy with what he saw from each of the team's seven draft picks and impressed by many of the team's rookie free agents.

By name, Lewis mentioned Ohio State fullback Stan White, Brigham Young tight end Dan Coats and Ohio University linebacker Matt Muncy. Lewis said he was happy that Florida linebacker Earl Everett is making quicker-than-expected progress from ankle-cleanout surgery and that he should be available by the full-squad minicamp in early June and maybe sooner.

Lewis also said Eric Henderson, converted from down defensive end to outside linebacker, continues that improve in his transition and that having the five practices of repetitions helped him greatly.

"We're kind of with Eric where we were a year ago with Rashad Jeanty," Lewis said.

Hey MArk--- interesting comments from Marvin re. selfishness and addition by subtraction. Have to think Delta Oneal was in that group that he was talking about? Any other possibilities? Not Sam Adams. Sam is too fat to play but he always talks a team-game. Possibly Chris Perry? Your thoughts???

I would think that Tory James and Kelley Washington are more likely. They also fit the criteria since they are no longer with the team and there was zero effort to try and bring them back...

Everthing I heard on Kelly Washington was positive. Except for his dancing.

Mark,

If you would, talk to the tightend coach and get an idea on who has a realistic shot to be the 2nd tightend.

I agree-- everything re Kelley Washington was positive (hard working, not complaining, etc..) there was just no room or need at WR... Sounded like Marvin was talking about current players not released players. My guess is Delta is on thin ice. Better have a good training camp with his happy-face on or he could be in that last round of cuts. (not sure about Ratliff either?)
