SI picks Bengals to win division

In its NFL preview issue that hits stands this week, Sports Illustrated ranks the Cincinnati Bengals No. 1 in the AFC North. (Apparently, some writers on SI.com think otherwise.)

In the magazine's ranking of the NFL's top 50 players, quarterback Carson Palmer is ninth, and wide receiver Chad Johnson 48th.

According to si.com they have the Bengals picked 3rd and finishing 8-8. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/don_banks/08/28/season.predictions/1.html

How can SI pick Cincinati to be first in the division when they have almost no defense? All three of the preseason games saw the Bengals oppnets run up and down the feild without much resistence. The offense looked good for the first time on Monday, but why does the Bengals defense make every QB they face look like an allpro?

I'd sure like to have some of what SI is apparently smoking. Win the AFC North? How about barely coming in ahead of the Browns?

Is there any team out there on a pro level that will ever be more than a .500 team? I don't see the Reds or Bengals getting any better than this.
This is what us Hamilton County fans get for getting these owners new stadiums.

their D does seem to suck, however they are tied for first in yards allowed per running attempt. Their pass coverage sucks but something is getting better

Ha, he's got Andre Johnson ranked ahead of Chad Johnson. By ten spots or so. That's odd.

Peter King blows... He always has something bad to say about the bengals. That being said, the Bengals need to do something this year to show him otherwise. He is going off what history has told us.
