Lewis on Graham: `We'll see'

ATLANTA -- The Bengals might have suffered a third serious preseason injury in the 24-19 loss to the Falcons.

Kicker Shayne Graham left the game with a hip pointer while trying to tackle Atlanta kickoff return man Allen Rossum on a 59-yard return in the second quarter.

"I don’t know exactly what happened, but I have a feeling it will be OK," Graham said after the game. He did not kick in the second half.

Head coach Marvin Lewis said if it were a regular season game that Graham might have kicked.

"He would have come back," Lewis said.

But asked if he might have to sign another kicker, Lewis said, "We’ll see."

Punter Kyle Larson kicked-off after Cincinnati’s second touchdown. The Bengals went for a two-point conversion on that score. If it were a regular season game, Larson would have kicked extra points.

Safety Dexter Jackson suffered a concussion in first half but is not expected to miss much time. He will be examined before he can return.

Rookie running back Kenny Irons showed up at the Georgia Dome on crutches. He suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason opener and had surgery. He said he would return to Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday for a checkup and would be back in Cincinnati a few days before the regular-season opener Sept. 10. He did say he was suffering more swelling than had been expected.

Are there any good kicker options for the Bengals on the market if need be?

Is Kenny sure he wants to come back to Cincy to rehab his knee injury with what our subpar medical staff has done in the past.

It won't matter who kicks off much since our defense is a BIG SIVE!!!!
Thanks Marvin "Defensive Genius"

Well there is always Mike "the idiot kicker" Vanderjagt.

As a Colt he was the most accurate kicker in NFL history. They signed Vinatieri though after Vandy's mouth got a little too big for Peyton's liking.

Vanderjagt went to Dallas where he hurt his foot and missed a bunch of early kicks last year and Parcells cut him.

As far as I know he would be healthy and available.

I didn't see any improvement in the defense, which I expected after nearly zero major off season moves. I swear, those clowns made Harrington look like Marino. Plain and simple, the defensive schemes do not work and are easy to attack. They're obviously drawn up in the turf in the huddles before the ball is snapped.

actually, the deffense wasn't too bad. the only problem was that rookie seventh rounder out of ND subbing for Dexter. he blew coverage several times, all of which were big plays, and missed several tackles. everyone else played fairly well.

Dang, haven't even played a REAL game yet and the dogs are already barking. Don't you think the Falcons needed this PRE-SEASON game a little bit more than we did? Just chill out, and if our D sucks after the 8th game of the season then you can moan all you want. You know all we are doing right now is base, vanilla defenses. Besides, we didnt even have all of our STARTERS in.

Come on people! This was a PRESEASON game, without all our starters on D. Besides, dont you think Blowy Jarrington needed this game just a little bit more than we did? If our d sucks after the first 4 REAL games then you can start your barking. Till then, drink your beer and be quiet. WHO DEY!!!!!!!!
