Bengals waive two injured TEs

The Bengals today waived (injured) two first-year tight ends, Bobby Blizzard and Sean Mulcahy.

Blizzard, from North Carolina, has been out with a back injury suffered at training camp.

Mulcahy, from UConn, has been out with a neck injury. If they are not claimed by another team, they will revert to Cincinnati’s Reserve/Injured list for continued rehabiliation.

The Bengals are practicing until 1:15. Left tackle Levi Jones is again on the field and apparently have no aftereffects of his continued work this week. He had missed all of the Georgetown College sessions because of ongoing knee rehab.

Safeties Madieu Williams and John Busing walked in early from practice and were not in practice gear. Fellow safety Herana-Daze Jones was on the sidelines working with strength coaches, as were cornerback Brandon Williams and Blue Adams.

Cornerback Keiwan Ratliff was back in practice again. He had missed time after having his wisdom teeth pulled.

so if no other team claims them and they revert to the Bengals' Reserve/Injured list, what does that mean? Are they able to be activated at any point in this season, or are they shelved for the season?
what is the severity of each of their respective injuries?

Mark, if/when you reply to the above question, can you please include RB Dan Burks, who also was placed on the same list as the two TEs? If memory serves, if they end up on the injured/reserve list, can't the Bengals reach a monetary settlement with them, and release them? I think that's what happened a few years ago with backup C Thatcher Szalay, he went onto the Ravens for a spell.

Also, regarding Lewis being in the pressbox, I think you previously wrote that for offense, Bratkowski and another coach were in the box, and Bresnahan, Coyle and Hunley for defense. I think that's taking away your two best defensive coaches (Coyle and Hunley) from the field and players. I realize they are up there to see the opposing offense's formations and trends, and to better observe any defensive breakdowns, but I think at least one should be on the field, current/ex players say both are fiery motivators and good instructors. Jay Hayes and a couple assistant coaches are the only ones on the field now. What do you think about that setup Mark?
