NFL: Vick lied to us, Falcons
The NFL office in New York just released this statement from a league spokesman:
"We are aware of Michael Vick's decision to enter a guilty plea to the federal charges against him and accept responsibility for his conduct. We totally condemn the conduct outlined in the charges, which is inconsistent with what Michael Vick previously told both our office and the Falcons. We will conclude our own review under the league’s personal conduct policy as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have asked the Falcons to continue to refrain from taking action pending a decision by the commissioner."

Wow. That is about as harsh a statement as you can get. The NFL slapping the Falcons down and telling them shut up we'll handle it.
Chris Henry 8 games
Pac Man Jones 16 games
Odell Thurman 16 games
Mike Vick getting a banishment... priceless.
Possibly off-topic, I realize, however, I just wanted to say what a class act Madieu Williams appears to be.
Lewis said. "He doesn't have all of those pressures on him and you see that in him. You see a smile again. You see it in his play."
Williams politely disagrees.
"It wasn't pressure at all," he said of being his brother's guardian. "Quite honestly, it was a blessing for me.
Perhaps he should be the new NFL poster boy.
Did Michael Vick do something? I keep hearing his name on every channel on my satellite. I was unaware what the story was with him. I sure wish someone would fill me on him, as I just hadn't heard much about him.
mark-
will the bengals go after jeremiah trotter???
My guess is the Falcons asked the NFL for the statement to give them political cover. Now they don't have to make any statements to the press or decisions about the fate/future of Vick. It will be interesting to see if the Falcons get some special dispensation from the NFL for Vick's salary cap hit when they release him.
No way the league can give Atl any cap break. If they do how do you ever close that can of worms?
