Lewis surgery successful

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis underwent surgery today to repair torn tendons in his left ankle. The surgery was an outpatient procedure, and he was discharged this afternoon from Good Samaritan Hospital.

Dr. Jim Amis performed the surgery.

"The surgery went without complications," Amis told the Bengals public relations staff. "Coach Lewis will initially be in a cast, and then we will work with him on his rehab. He will be inconvenienced for some time due to lack of mobility, but he'll soon be able to resume his essential activities."

The Bengals are conducting their regular schedule. Assistant head coach Paul Alexander is standing in for Lewis as necessary during the initial post-surgery phase.

Lewis' news conference, scheduled for Thursday, has been moved to Friday.

Dude will have a rough season and will be in the hot seat. Palmer looks rough, 0-line is beat up, no tight ends. D-line stinks, linebackers, etc... This team might lose 11 games in the tough North.
better get mobile coach, you're gonna need to be a politician this year and run for4 your job.

Do you think the Bengals would be interested in Kelly Washington if he doesn't make it in New England?

Thats absurd mister, nothing can be decided by the preseason, especially when many injuries are occuring. Don't forget that game 1 is as big as it gets. Monday night, division rival, at home... enough said. If the guys we need healthy for sept 10th are sitting out while the saints blow us up in the preseason then so be it. Marv has a plan, the plan begins the execution phase sept 10th at 7pm.

Mister- Your comment by far is the most un- intelligent post I've read in quite sometime. What is it that you do for a living?

It's pre-season and your already playing the negatives to try and make yourself look smart.

I'm not saying the Bengals look great and Marvin is coach of the year, however nobody wins awards or gets crowned champions of the pre-season.

Go back to sleep please....

In response to "mister"... you are an idiot. Why do you even read articles about the Bengals if you arent a fan? Go back to Cleveland. Palmer is the #2 quarterback in the league, the o-line is solid and we have more depth there than any other position, we have a great blocking tight end and an upcoming rookie who looks tough (Coats), our D-line is tough with Peko, Smith, Geathers and Thorton. The only position of concern on the team is linebacker. We will be in the playoffs, and we will win 11 games... W-H-O D-E-Y! BTW, thanks for jumping off the bandwagon, I am glad to see "fans" like you gone.

Mark-

will marvin lewis be able to coach on monday? he probably won't be able to walk well with the boot, and he could get run over on the sidelines like Joe Paterno except he wasn't hurt.

Mark,

did the club make Marvin "off-limits" to the media following his surgery, like they have for Levi Jones?
