Lewis golf event raises more than $500,000

This release just in from the Marvin Lewis Community Fund:

The Marvin Lewis Community Fund raised more than $500,000 at the Marvin Lewis Golf Classic presented by Cincinnati Bell on May 20.

"While the weekend had many stars, plenty of birdies and lots of great tastes on the golf course, it was really about fulfilling the mission of the Marvin Lewis Community Fund: to empower, educate, and inspire individuals in the Greater Cincinnati region.

"Eight individuals in particular felt the influence of the Community Fund as they were each awarded four- year, $20,000 college scholarships. Cherrell Albertson of Little Miami High School (Xavier University), Anna Donovan of Ursuline Academy (Ohio State University), Heather Kunze of Seton High School (Ohio Dominican University), Tyler Oehlman of East Central High School (Purdue University), Sibongile Sithe of Summit Country Day (Yale University), Jerald Stuckey of Purcell Marian High School (Johnson C. Smith University), Alexandra Warner of Roger Bacon High School (University of Cincinnati), and Robin Wright of Walnut Hills High School (Kent State University) were each awarded scholarships. The eight recipients this year increases the Fund's total number of scholarships awarded to 16 in three years."

Great job, coach! Thank you for making our community better than it was before you got here. Marvin Lewis' actions have shown that he has been a high character guy his entire life, even if many on the Bengals roster are not. I will never take sides with the school of thought that it is easier to blame someone else for your actions, rather than taking responsibility for yourself.

Blogger must die! LOL

On another happy note - while he was no CP, this guy sure seemed well-liked while he was here - Casey Bramlet. Glad to see him do well!

Redskins' backup QB Bramlet named World Bowl MVP.

Thought it was interesting that 4 of the first 7 posts (ESPN) in response to Tank being cut by the Bears, the individual posting the message made reference to the Bengals (see below).

Combine that with Norman Chad’s “Ask the Slouch” section of his column, which he termed the “Special Bengals edition”, http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=623989, sure seems to suggest the national image of the Bengals isn’t all that favorable.
Thought you would be interested.

From ESPN
Bears decide to move on, waive Tank Johnson

Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, GOOD BYE!

Hats off to the Bears for making the right move. They drew a line, as every company should when dealing with a troubled employee, and Johnson finally found a way to cross it.
Let the Bengal jokes begin, as we now get to find out if anyone will take a flyer on an obviously talented football player.

How many minutes until the Bengals sign him?

CFhardball (6/25/2007 at 3:17 PM)
Ok I agree Tank has been a huge distraction to the Team. but I blame the Media on this one. Its a Freakin Speeding Ticket, he was never charged with Drunk Driving or anything else in this incident. 40 in a 25? Try living in Tampa. If you're not doing 40 in a 25, You're getting run over by the Idiot behind you in his Redneck F350 Truck. You'd think he'd been in a DUI accident with injuries.

A) Who thinks redsox had to sing that outloud for that post?
B) Odds for Tank to sign with the Bengals? Even?

Strike 4!

Good...I'm glad to see that the organization and team backed up the new policy...now M. Lewis needs to start doing the same with his guys.

Where are you Mark? It has been almost a month since you made a post. I know there are things going on in Bengal land, Butch Hopson tells us so on Bengals.com.
Send out the hounds and issue an all points bulletin for Mark C.
