Vegas Police: Porter threw first punch

A redacted report on the incident Sunday night in Las Vegas regarding an attack on Bengals left tackle Levi Jones was completed late Friday and sent to the district attorney’s office.

The report said that Jones was gambling at a table at the Palms casino when approached by former Steelers linebacker Joey Porter, an on-field rival, Las Vegas Police told The Enquirer.

Video of the incident shows that Porter, now with the Miami Dolphins, struck Jones first above the eye with a closed fist. Several unidentified men then joined in and punched Jones. The incident was witnessed by a friend of Jones’ who was gambling with him. Porter was charged with misdemeanor battery and released.

Albert Haynesworth was suspended for stomping on another players head during a game. Any chance that Joey Porter gets suspended for attacking Levi Jones?

Suspended and place in jail.

I think that the NFL, with it's "new" conduct policy it has floated out there, is in a position to make Joey Porter the poster child.

What the NFL does here will, to me, really tell the tale as to this new policy having any teeth to it.

My take? I see a two game suspension, and a hefty fine.

this is the definition of irony, isn't it? a new conduct rule implemented by the League largely due to misbehavior of Bengal's players might be first used to punish the guy whose crime was starting a fight with a Bengals player......
