Porter, Levi Jones duke it out at blackjack table

Imagine what practice would have been like.

Former Steelers linebacker Joey Porter, who signed a contract earlier this month with the Miami Dolphins, was cited for misdemeanor battery after allegedly punching Bengals left tackle Levi Jones in the face in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Before signing with the Dolphins, Porter was said to be negotiating with the Bengals – and Cincinnati was reportedly in the running with Miami.

Jones and Porter have faced each other many times on the field.

Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan did not know about the alleged incident until contacted for possible comment this morning by The Enquirer.

This afternoon, Brennan said that Jones did not suffer any significant injuries in the alleged altercation.

Brennan relayed the report to Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, who declined comment.

Jones makes his offseason home in Las Vegas and was not immediately available for comment.

"Apparently these two have a history with each other, a history of trash talking on the field,” Las Vegas police Lt. Kevin McMahill told the newspaper.

The altercation took place at the Palms casino Sunday night, said Officer Martin Wright of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

An incident report would not be available for five working days, Wright said.

I love it! You GO Levi, don't take anything from Porter. Even though he is no longer a Steeler, he still has that attitude and no Bengal needs to take it.

Joey Porter is a THUG.
No wonder he was shot in the butt a while ago.

Good for Levi. Joey Porter is a punk. I wonder if the Palms is aware of Joey Porter's history of being a cheater after all he was a Steeler.

Perhaps Jones was simply telling the dealer to "hit me" and Porter misunderstood.

This wasn't just a fight, Porter and SIX of his thugs ROBBED Levi.

Porter hits Jones. Steeler hits Bengal. Steelers beat Bengals.

The more that things change; the more they stay the same.

somehow, this story will get added into all the previous stories of Bengals having off-field issues with law enforcement.....
for those who were so hell bent that we needed to sign this thug, what do you say now???

Even though Porter is a thug, I couldn't see a Bengal like Palmer getting into a fight somebody at a casino.
How many of you have ever gotten into a fight with someone you work with that you don't like?
The NFL is surreal.

This is a surprising turn. A Bungle is involved in a legal altercation, and someone else gets arrested? It's not what we've come to expect from our beloved Criminal Bungles.

I couldnt see Palmer getting into a fight at the Palms. What are you trying to say with that statement? Have you ever met Levi, no and you havent met Carson either so dont pass judgement. Levi is a good person and I am sure that Porter and his six friends were entirely responsible. Porter's only skill is intimidation and he is trying to be a thug...We will see how long before he gets into in Miami.

I'm going to pass judgement. Because normal people don't get into fights in public places. I don't have to "know" Levi Jones to understand that fact.

Of course you are going to pass judgment, much easier to do than what for the facts to come out.

Normal people get in fights in public all the time, have you ever been out of the house? Difference is, celebs get the front page..."normal" people don't.

Rumor has it that they were each jawing at each other the whole night (most likely initiated by Joey "Loose Lips" Porter). Apparently Porter went on a bad losing streak and Levi fired a few comments back at him. The jawing continued as Jones left the table until the Porter & Posse followed him to the parking lot and then the fighting started. (I would assume Porter's roid rage took over).
This is through the grapevine from a friend that works at the Palms (may not be very accurate as most rumors aren't)
This time, NFL can not protect Porter.

How many of us have jobs where we get paid to physically assault other people?

One good thing is that Porter only had his posse and not his dogs around.

Rich: If I'm bothering you with my posse and giving you crap and provoking you, you would be excused for fighting. Golden boy Carson would have been in the same position. Well maybe not, he seems more of a Branson, Mo. guy than a Vegas guy. As anon 2:51 said it was more of an attempted mugging than a fistfight.

If you are going to act like Bill Cowher you could try spelling his name right.

Right, it should have been Bill Coward.
