Young tackles struggle against Colts fast defensive ends

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Bengals are the antidote tonight for the Colts' woes.

A beat-up Indianapolis defense looks quick and sharp. Ends Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis are running circles around backup tackles Andrew Whitworth and Stacy Andrews. No wonder coaches activated Levi Jones, whose knee still prevents him from playing.

Willie Anderson is out with an aggravated right foot injury.

Ive never seen a team more OUT-COACHED than the bengals tonight... ZERO defensive adjustments (peyton was like 30-30 on passes 10 yards and under, HELLO), terrible offensive calls (the timeout before the challenge, not going for it with 4th and 1 in the first half, and just not agressive). The coaches in my opinion lost this one...

Listening to Kornheiser hype the colt defense is sickening. This game was called bad by the coaching staff. Marvin Lewis lost this game. Plain and simple. The colt's D didn't do this, not utilizing your team correctly was the reason for this loss. This team will be lucky to make the playoffs, and frankly, they don't deserve it.

Bungals suck. Always have, always will.

The Bengals out coached themselves. Use your strength Marvin, it's not brain surgery. The run game is not your strength and your defense has never stopped Manning. Throw the ball idiot!

What in the world was Carson doing out there down by 18 and less than 3 minutes left, taking hit after hit???????
I cringed everytime he dropped back to pass. If he got hurt, it would have been unforgiveable.

If we win out, do we get in?

lousy performance all the way around. Poor offensive game plan. Poor defensive game plan. Lousy tackling.

Why is Chris Henry still on this team? If he thought the ball was a beer bottle or underaged girl I'm sure he'd been able to get two hands on it.

Why is Chad always getting IVs? And in an indoor game? And at critical point in game tonught? Hydration...simple concept, learn it.

Simply embarassing...now they have to win, but I see them losing the next two...

with half an O-line, SHORT passes would seem an appropriate innovation ... or you could try a really long one into the locker room where the IVs are administered. hmmmm.

Pitiful attempt by a team trying to make the playoffs in the AFC. Too much running by the Bengals and that didn't work. Palmer was continously harrassed as there was no offensive blocking for protection at all. Whereas Manning had all night to look for different receivers and hardly ever being rushed. Giving Payton that much time he will pick you apart. I do not believe the Bengals blitzed him hardly at all. The Bengals will not beat Denver if they play like this and if they do then they do not belong in the playoffs. Very poor effort with so much at stake for the Bengals. I see their chances slipping away.

In answer to an earlier post, I think the Bengals are in if they win the last two.

That would give them the edge in tie breakers and get Denver out of the picture.

As for last night, Theisman (and most of the comments above) hit it on the head. The Bengals went away from their strengths and tried to play into the Indy defense by running the ball.

That's not our game. We use the pass to set up the run.

Manning would have been perfect were it not a couple of drops and jamming Harrison's fingers late in the game.

Why all the passes sent Henry's way. He made no effort to catch anything, if there was a defender nearby.

Marv (I still wear the "defensive genius" tag proudly), Bob and Chuck were so enchanted with the game plan that they decided to stick with it no matter the score. Somebody should break the news to them that we lost.

In this league it is all ownership and coaching. Ours has taken us as far as they can.

The Bengals coaches' game plan was "NOT TO LOSE". And the players performed accordingly.
You scheme and play to WIN. The Bengals deserved to lose, for their lack of confidence in beating the Colts.

If the Bung-holes make the playoffs it will be a first round exie AGAIN. GOOOOOOOOOOOOO STEELERS 5 TIME SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS!

It's embarrassing to get thoroughly beaten in football, by being out finessed. I’d rather lose by taking chances and being aggressive. Bill Cowar would never have that lousy game plan of the Bengals.

To Chad: you're a moron. Drink water and stop eating the poison at McDonalds...no wonder your calf muscles look like string beans, it's all the high sodium in your diet

To Henry: do you care whether you're in the NFL next year? Drop three more while showing the intensity of Hello Kitty, and you'll be in Arena 2!

To Marvin Lewis: You stink as a strategist. STINK

To the rest of the Bengals coaches: I could do a far better job of prepping this team and calling plays--you're all a total embarrassment to your profession.

What a crappy mental, physical, tactical, strategic, and preparative effort last night.

JUST PERFECT FOR NATIONAL TV.

You idiots will get BEATEN by DENVER, EMBARRASSED by PITTSBURGH, and sit at home for the playoffs.

GUARANTEED unless you WAKE UP!

I use to be a big Chris Henry fan. I thought he could be better than Chad or TJ. I was wrong. Since the game earlier this season he took a helmet to helmet bashing, he is afraid to catch the ball in traffic.
Stopping your routes in traffic or one handing a catch in traffic is Chris Henry today.

Hey Delta O'Neal wake up. We're on the goal line, man-to-man, and Marvin Harrison is lined up wide. Let's give him a 5 yard buffer for him to make his move.
Bingo...quick slant or fade and an uncontested TD pass from Manning.
Didn't take an offensive genious to draw that play up.

Chris Henry is GARBAGE! I wouldn't care if he didn't play another down for the team. Did anyone else see him yawn on the sideline right after he gave no effort to catch a ball up the sideline? He's a PUNK both personally and professionally.

what will it take to cut chris henry? what does he bring to the table? why is he still on the roster?!? another genius move by marvin.

That was ugly last night . It looked like Palmer was intimidated by Maning or something . He didn't throw the ball to T.J. that much at all .What's up you never now what team is going to go on the fild .You better get it together , and fast you only got 2 more games , come on .

The Bengals' defense game plan stunk. I agree. We have two good safeties and 2 decent corners but Lewis obviously has no confidence in them holding their own with the colt receivers and judging from how delta oneal was worked by harrison, maybe rightfully so. The main thing they should have done is take away the underneath passes by bringing up a safety. The bengals defense was scared to lose and not aggressively attempting to win like the last 3 weeks.

I agree only partially about the offensive game plan being wrong. If the bengals would have got caught up in a shoot out, the same fans would have been hammering lewis for not "pounding the rock" just as they were criticizing him of not doing earlier in the year. With Palmer getting no time to throw, how were we supposed to do it? You have 3 rookies on the line?

Being a long suffering bengal fan (is there any other kind?) I think its funny how one game can so drastically change their opinions of a team. Last week, we are super bowl favorites, this week lewis has got to go. Its one game. If the bengals beat the broncos, all will be well again.

To a much important note, is Fat burger willie going to play or not?

defense coach should be fired no pressure after it has been shown the only way to win against the colts is with pressure we played soft because of our game planning iwould rather lose playing like we had the past four weeks than like we did monday night. Offensive coach still terrible as he has been all year the four wins prior to monday was won on the ability of our players not the great play calling of our coaches . mike brown should tell Marvin get rid of these guys or else at the end of this year no matter what we do in the post season.
