Bengals' 'prevent' defense can't prevent scores

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Bengals are playing a defense designed to keep plays in front of them. But Reggie Wayne ran right past cornerback Tory James to catch an 18-yard touchdown pass from Peyton Manning -- his fourth of the game -- to give Indianapolis a 31-13 lead on the Bengals with 2:10 remaining in the third quarter.

Manning is 26-for-29 passing for 248 yards and four touchdowns.

James and fellow veteran Bengals cornerback Deltha O'Neal have been overmatched all night by the Colts pass defense.

The prevent is killing us. Why are we playing so far off the ball? This is a terrible preperation for the D.

Horrible play calling tonight on both sides of the ball. I thought that Marvin had finally quit trying to play conservatively with this team. Not tonight. I know that this team is weak against the run, but where is the down field throws? Running in the fourth down by 18 and showing no ability to stop the run? What are the coaches thinking? Also, this has to be Tory James' last season in Cincinnati/NFL. Same with Chris Henry, let someone else deal with his half-a$$ing.

I don't understand what we are doing on our pass coverage

What is the problem with Tory James? It ain't just age. It's like he's somewhere else out there or is that just me?
I loved Tory James. I'm sure going to miss him.

Oh yeah, I agree the play calling was a little out there. Out somewhere, but it sure wasn't in there. I heard something about needing more execution. Well be careful what ya wish for cause that's what we got. Executed all night!!!

Passive on offense and passive on defense takes this team out of the game. Prevent pass coverage from the start? Let's get Manning in the rhythm, get his feet under him after several bad games -- that's the Bengal game plan? Play to the run because that's where the Colts are weak on defense? Excuse me, those that watch the Colts know there D is weak everywhere -- therefore you play to your strengths -- like you always play aggressively on defense. Absolutely Bresnahan must go because the defense has grown an iota. Marvin Lewis proved himself an inept coach, too.

Hello, pressure or blitzes anyone?

The MO to beat the Colts is to be physical and knock Peyton around.

Anyone watch film on Indy defeats?

We over coached and over thought!

Line up on O and do what we do!
Line up on D and bring pressure!

I should say unconventional pressure!
