OK, if you said they'd be 3-1 at bye ...

The wheels fell off in the final three quarters Sunday, and the Bengals are losing 38-13 with 2 minutes remaining.

Cincinnati limps into its bye at 3-1, a game behind the 4-0 Ravens in the AFC North.

Why was Carson Palmer in the game to get pummeled midway through the fourth quarter?

I believe Steinbach will be at center after the bye and Whitworth at Guard. Caleb Miller and Tory James looked bad, along with the whole D-Line.

Well i agree. The same thing happended with Pburg who would have handed our heads to us had it not been for their stupid play. Read my comments on Bengals sit and see. I really believe we are way hyped up to be better than we are. We are awesome, but not as awesome as the media would lead you to believe. Carson my man had three fumbles last week, was sacked four times and look what he did today. We better shape up. Look at the Ravens and you know the Steelers are mad as hell and will be back with a vengence. Somebody better fix the fumbles and stupid miscues.

Hey Bengal fans, you have a great team but it's just not time for the changing of the guard yet! Johnson was a riot trash talking about the Patriots this week but as you can see the game still has to played on the field. Thanks, maybe we'll see you in January! Go Pats!

Reality football. The reality is that the defense is not championship caliber. It may be a longer season than Bengal fans expected. The team's disciplinary issues are a major distraction. A bye week couldn't come at a better time.

Palmer was still in the game for the same reason Johnson was there for the last play of the Browns game (when he almost got his block knocked off)... as for why that happened, I'm at a loss to explain it...

bengal43: i totally agree about caleb miller and tory james playing badly. is it time to replace james with joseph? it seemed like every big play the patriots had, #20 was getting burned or missing a tackle.

Bengal43 has it right on the O-line. Here's a quick list of things to ponder over the bye.

Bengals should think about...
1) Steinbach at center and Whitworth at guard
2) Is Joseph ready to replace Tory James?
3) Why their record is better on the road than at home over the last two years (conservative play calling?)

Bengals should be concerned with...
1)inability to stop the run
2)O-line looking shaky
3)Carson not hanging on to the ball
4)Chad's lack of productivity
5)all the penalties

Bengals can be optimistic that...
1)Offense improves with Henry and Perry returning.
2)Defense improves with return of Jeanty and Jackson
3)Return game improves with Tab Perry and Chatman

All they can do now is get healthy and prepare for Tampa Bay.

This whole game comes down to three words - Do Your Job. I was at the stadium and there wern't enough people doing their job. This is not a issue of whether this guy or that guy. This is an issue of this attitude or that attitude. I saw no passion coming out of the play calls or out of the coverage that we saw in the Steelers game. What do you mean? We are just going to let a reciever just walk into the endzone and catch a pass without being covered? Some players came to that game to do their job. Unfortunately, too many didn't.

Did I miss something and its the second half of the season when the Bengals D perennially goes into the tank and they can stop nothing? Did Sam Adams, the great run stopper, get in on a tackle. Was there a play when Caleb Miller wasn't out of position? Can any Bengal tackle? Does any Bengal D-player bring any machismo to the game? I saw Justin Smith all excited once on a big play in the first half -- but absolutely no emotion from this crew. Gotta wonder about Bresnahan turning this group into a solid D.

I'm gonna say it: Carson looks rusty.

Palmer may be ok physically, but mentally he may not be there. He just doesn't look the same as last year. Maybe the week off will help.

Agree with bengal43. Steinback at center, Whitworth at guard.

YOU all need to give the PATRIOTS credit. The PATS dominated both sides of the ball....all game long.
Somebody needs to tell the overconfident Bengals to NEVER talk trash about a top tier team like the PATRIOTS prior to the game, many have paid a hefty price for doing just that.
Also , most teams and good players compliment the opposing team when the win or lose, Carson said after ther game "we should have beaten them".....????? Says who, the pats have 3 ring s for a reason, Bengals showed they are a second tier team on Sunday...

I'll take 3-1 at the bye week, especially with the tough schedule the Bengals have. The way the Bengals lost though, was tough, but hopefully, with the bye, they will have time to focus on the problems, and come out an even better team.

Regarding trash talk...I was at the game, and sat behind a few New England fans. I had no problem with them, and we kindly exchanged a few jabs about prospects for the remainder of the season. For my part, I wished New England well, except on that Sunday, including the playoffs..should the teams meet again.

I must say I was very embarrased by the drunken Bengals fans yelling profanities at the three Patriot fans; who were all women in their late 50's.

Clearly, we need to mature as Bengals supporters. Several of my fellow Bengals fans, along with me, appologized for the behavior. I do regret not calling the JERK line at the time.

I've been a Bengals fan for all of my 35 years, through good times and bad. Yes, there are tough fan environments, and the Bengals have been the butt of many NFL jokes for years. Now, with a good team, management, and coaching in place, how about we (the fans) also show our growth and maturity?
