Bengals defense lets up NE touchdown
The Bengals defense played poorly in allowing New England to take the lead midway through the second quarter. The Patriots drove 87 yards on eight plays, capping the drive with an 11-yard touchdown run around left end by rookie running back Laurence Maroney. Cornerback Tory James and the pass defense was beaten on a 35-yard pass to tight end Ben Watson from Tom Brady. The Patriots converted their first third-down play of the game on the drive.
