Steelers up 7-3

Ben Roethlisberger threw a 21-yard touchdown to Hines Ward to give the Steelers a 7-3 lead with 2:42 remaining. The Bengals only had 10 defensive players on the field for the touchdown.

Ward turned rookie cornerback Leon Hall around on a double-move. Hall also was victimized on a 42-yard bomb from Roethlisberger to Santonio Holmes. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis challenged the catch, but the ruling on the field stood.

Pittsburgh drove 80 yards in five plays, taking only 2:29.

The TD catch was the 60th of Wards' career. He joins John Stallworth (63) as the only Steelers receivers in Steelers history with 60 career touchdowns receptions.

First of all, there should have been a delay of game on that "completed" pass to Holmes. Next, once again, like in every NFL game, the officials cannot get a review correct. There is at least 1-2 plays per NFL game where the official cannot make the right call. I am getting fed up with these ignorant rules and refs.

Wow, I can remember reading in training camp how Justin Smith worked all off season on techniques and moves to enhance his pass rush. He must of not been working very hard. Since all he does is bull rush on every down. Hell, I could block that. They just have no talent on defense.

Lets see...a missed delay...an incorrect review....and 10 players on defense....eqals 7...could be a long day

Only 10 Bengal players on the field for Pitt's second touchdown.

Uh, I think we need a new defensive coach people.

I know that someone is bound to point out to me that Johnathan Joseph and Leon Hall are rookies, but I don't know if I've seen any NFL team this year whose DBs seem less able to cover WRs than the Bengals' DBs. If you're going to spend 1st and 2nd round picks on guys, you'd like to think they could cover somebody, especially when Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes are far from elite WRs. Along with Madieu Williams and Dexter Jackson, this defensive backfield just looks lost.

OK, I guess I'm one of those pedestrian, unknowledgeable football fans, but if your defense is showing no signs of being able to stop the opponent's offense, shouldn't you try and get a TD anytime you have an opportunity? If they score 3 or 7 points everytime they have the ball, and you only score 3 points every THIRD time you have the ball, you lose. Right?

I mis-typed earlier. Joseph is obviously not a rookie, although he does often resemble a rookie 4th rounder.

This is painful to watch. With the bad calls and horribly stupid mistakes on the Bengals part. How can you make such bad mistakes as not having enough players on the field or not finishing off tackles when you are all supposed to be professionals?
