Isolation booth

You know that feature the Enquirer does on Sundays where the paper features a matchup of two opposing players in the upcoming Bengals game? Yeah, well, I'm in charge of it this week. So I'm taking suggestions (leave them in the comments). Last week, it was Ahmad Brooks vs. Willis McGahee.

This week??? Let me know what you think is a key matchup, and you'll find out what I think on Sunday.

Also, feel free to mention which team, the Browns or Bengals, has the edge at various positions. I figure quarterback should be a tough one to decide (sorry, there's no sarcasm font).

Graham Vs Dawson

These Cinti v Cleveland games are close so it comes down to the placekickers.

Edge to Graham in though he's banged up. Carson and Co. will get him close enough for a chipshot.

Chad Johnson vs. Leigh Bodden.

or John Thornton vs. Eric Steinbach

Or Chad Johnson vs. the Dawg Pound, lol.

Graham versus Dawson is good.

Maybe L. Johnson or Brooks versus Winslow? It seems like the Bengals always have problems against a TE.

Anyone else?

QBs edge goes to bengals
RBs edge goes to bengals
WRs edge goes to bengals
TE edge goes to browns
OL edge goes to bengals
DL edge goes to bengals
LBs slight edge to bengals
DBs edge to browns

isolation booth, I would have to go with the John Thorton vs Eric Steinbach

I agree about a Bengals LB and Winslow- haven't Browns TE's just killed the Bengals dating back to that 54-47 (or something like that)point-fest back in 2004?

I'm excited to see how the Thornton vs. Eric Steinbach match up goes. I dont doubt there is going to be some friendly rivalery going on.

Jamal Lewis has always had pretty good success on the Bengals. How about him vs Brooks, if Brooks can be in it 2 weeks in a row.

The bengals have (had?) problems with TE's because their secondary has been soft. #40 will take care of that this year - I like that call.

Isolation booth: LT Joe Thomas and LG Eric Steinbach v RT John Thornton and RE Justin Smith.

Can Steinbach impart some knowledge of his former teammates strengths and tendencies, or will Thornton and Smith have big games on Anderson's blind side? Can Smith and Thornton occupy additional blockers to free up others on the front seven? Will the Bengals be forced to rely as heavily on the blitz as in game 1?

Levi Jones/Andrew Whitworth vs. Kamerion Wimbley

I would go with either
Geathers v. Shaffer or
Smith v. Thomas

As goes the pass rush, so go the Bengals.

Wimbley vs. Whitworth or Levi

Winslow vs. Madieu Williams (who did a fantastic job on Todd Heap last week)

Braylon Edwards vs. Leon Hall (former Michigan teammates get to square off) and Deltha O'Neal

And lastly, what about Rudi (wanting to redeem himself after last week's fumble and who always seems to have a huge game against the Browns) vs. D'Qwell Jackson?

Why not a simple Andra Davis and D'Qwell Jackson vs. Rudi Ali Johnson? In a 3-4 defense, it is the job of the defensive line to occupy the offensive line allowing the linebackers to make plays. Rudi has keyed off against the Browns, averaging something just under 130 yards per game against our neighbors to the north. Yet he is comming off a game where he managed a mere 2.8 yards per carry against a 3-4 defense.

Take that last stat with a grain of salt because the Browns are no where near as good as the Ravens, but with more inexperienced line players thrust into the starting lineup because of injuries to Ghiaciuc, Jones and Anderson, the confusion that a 3-4 can cause both in run and pass blocking is notable.

Rudi needs more than 50 yards a game to get the bengals into the playoffs, and a fumble like he had last week is inexcusable with the team hanging onto the lead. Granted, he also needs more than 18 carries, but when you don't have success on 1st down running, it become harder to run on 2nd and 3rd (although note this article by Pat Kirwan found here [http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80240419&template=without-video&confirm=true])

Anyway, the bengals need to establish the run to set up the passing game. If the safties can drop deep all game to take away the deep ball, Palmer will be forced to dink and dunk, not the strongest part of his game (see the overthrows last week). The Bengals need to establish the run - Rudi bs the Browns ILBs.

Is anyone really scared of the Brown's offense?

Definitely Chad Johnson vs the Dawg Pound.

C'mon, you think there's really anything key happening on the field?
