LT Jones downgraded to questionable

Bengals left tackle Levi Jones was downgraded to questionable this afternoon with his knee injury. He did not practice. Jones had been probable and did practice Wednesday.

Jones is a key player on the offensive line, especially against Pittsburgh’s speed rush game featuring linebacker Joey Porter. Andrew Whitworth, overmatched at Indianapolis by fast defensive end Dwight Freeney, would return to the lineup if Jones can't play.

Guard Eric Steinbach and defensive tackle Sam Adams, out this week because of an intestinal virus going through the locker room, returned to practice. Steinbach said he felt well. They practiced Friday, as did safety Madieu Williams (thigh contusion), and remained probable. Rookie linebacker A.J. Nicholson (illness) also returned to practice and remained probable.

You bengals are missing the most important point concerning last Sunday's game in Denver. When T.J. disrespected the mile high salute, mile high magic caused the bad snap on the pat. Bengals must learn not to disrespect the other team in their stadium. Just ask T.O. !! Go Broncos !!!!!

Here is an interesting thought which I haven't read anywhere else - it originated right here by me:

The Squealers MIGHT be able to hire Marvin away IF they make him GM / Head Coach simultaneously ala Mike Holmgren in Seattle. It would be a promotion so the Bengals couldn't stop him.

Unless, of course, someone knows of some precedent whereby the NFL stopped some other team from doing the same thing in order to steal another teams head coach.

Are you nuts? The Steelers arent interested in Marvin Lewis. Marvin is spoiled goods in view of all the off-the-field problems that have plagued his Cinti team this year. Also, astute owners/GM's notice how one-dimensional the Bengals have become--all offense and even it sputters frequently.

No longer is it the case that a team must let a coach leave (who is under contract) for a promotion. It used to be that way, but no longer. For example, Lewis wanted to hire Emmitt Thomas from the Falcons, who was DB coach there, to be his defensive coordinator in 2003. Atlanta said no.

If there is one think that I observed in that game its that the bengals wern't themselves. I think Carson was on painkillers and that is why he was throwing behind TJ. That team did not show up to win that day. TJ just kept shaken his head and I knew that they were off their base and didn't have the attitude of winning. There is a difference between knowing who you are and thinking you might be able to possibly win a game if the stars all are aligned.....MAYBE. This team doesn't know what they are yet and untill they do they will continue to hand games to teams like the Broncos and watch the wake of their mistakes.
