Bengals deal with intestinal virus

Defensive tackle Sam Adams and guard Eric Steinbach missed a second day of practice today with an intestinal virus. Rookie linebacker A.J. Nicholson was added to the injury report as probable with the illness.

Left tackle Levi Jones (knee) remained probable but did not practice today.

Looking ahead to 2007, the Bengals' two interconference opponents by position are still undecided headed into Week 17 of 2006. The Bengals have clinched second place in the AFC North. Even if they would lose Sunday to Pittsburgh to fall to 8-8, the Bengals would have a better division record (4-2) than the Steelers (3-3).

The Bengals will play at the second-place AFC West team (Denver or Kansas City) and play host to the second-place AFC South team (Tennessee or Jacksonvile).

Cincinnati's home games: New England, the Jets, Arizona, St. Louis, Baltimore, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

Cincinnati's road games: at Buffalo, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle, Baltimore, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

Why can't we have that schedule this year. We would be in the play-offs by the 7th week. Dang that schedule gonna be easy thanks to Carson Palmer. 07 looks great. 06 still good though.

That schedule looks pretty good. We could possibly go 12-4 next year!

mark,

take this for what you want: i think you do a nice job of covering the bengals. but only "nice." you're probably doing a better job than peter king did 17 years (or TK whatever years) ago, but i'm willing to bet that your editor wants more. here's some very free advice for next season: Don't get caught up in first downs and touchdowns; what we the readers want is your analysis. spare us the recap -- give us the look on carson's face when he's in the locker room; tell us if chad is as hated among his teammates as everyone thinks ... this is the kind of stuff readers want.

just a few random thoughts, mark. also, loved the blog on your mom. if I was your editor, i'd tell you you to transer THAT kind of writing into your newspaper work ..... not to get too deep, but i'd bet your mom would want that as well....

Ditto the previous post. Thought your reporting after the Denver loss was first-rate. Stuff about James and O'Neal corrupting Joseph was good. Also, I think the Cinti media has been way too kind to Marvin. Lots of folks are willing to cut him slack on account of how bad the team was for so long before his arrival. But I see the team plateauing at this level unless Marvin grows some as a head coach. Has gotten way too much credit for the explosive offense and has shirked responsibility for the deplorable defense. Thought he was some sort of guru on that side of the ball. His respect for the media and fans is comparable to that which Parcells and Belichek display but he doesnt have their won-lost percentages.
