Chad Johnson might win NFL receiving yards title

Chad Johnson's 1,369 receiving yards might be enough to win the NFL title.

Indianapolis' Marvin Harrison finished the season three yards behind Johnson, at 1,366.

Green Bay's Donald Driver needs 97 yards receiving in the Chicago game (ongoing tonight) to equal Johnson's total.

Who cares? Ocho Stinko has been the kink in the "team" armor all year. TJ makes blocks, tackles LBs on INTs. #85 counts his stats.

If you watch his locker room comments after the last two games, when the need for "change" comes up CJ jokes and asks if he is leaving. He should. His trade value is as high as it will ever be.

How can he not understand that question...or maybe he does. Carson and Chad have been out of sync all year long. You think #9 doesn't resent that while bustin' his tail to get back, Oucho judges cheerleader competitions and misses his own passing camp?

Carson is stepping up and that is the best thing that could happen for a guy many thought was a little too California cool.

Detroit and Miami are places with bad SB memories anyway. AZ, here we come.

Donald Driver had 3 catches for 23 yards and one TD in Green Bay's win tonight.

What pick do we have in the draft? The Oakland Raiders are on the clock.

Mark,

I think the fans would like a number of "what does this collapse mean?" stories. I know the difficulty with everyone talking elliptically and not for attribution, but when # 9 and # 71 talk of selfishness on the team, someone on the team needs to cowboy up and name names and give reasons.
Thank you for another outstanding season of coverage, which presented some tough times for you personally. I consider reading your stuff a blessing and look forward to your postseason and offseason work.
Happy New Year to you and yours.

I'm sure Ocho Cinco counts this season as successful then. He got his stats and his pro bowl and all the attention for his hair and his dances and calling out opposing defenses. That's all that matters to the team cancer.

Chad is no cancer. He puts up big numbers and wants the ball. That's what successful players do. Cancer is Carl Pickens or TO. The Bengals offence was not a problem at all. Even with terrible injury luck on the line they ranked 6th in pts per minute of posession. Defence is the key. I think the players have the talent, the coaches seem unable to instill consistent performances. Stop Larry Johnson one week. Allow 500+yds the next.

Mark,

Who cares that Chad Johnson will win the NFL receiving yards title. This whole season has been disappointing. To much emphasis has been put on individual accomplishments rather than team accomplishments. The Bengals are probably one of the most talented teams in the NFL. However, no one is willing to take responsibiltiy for their failures. If you ask me all the players are selfish. Everyone should take the blame. Obviously the players do not care about the team. For instance, look at the number of arrests and conduct detrimental to the team. When you have overpaid persons making several million dollars per season to play a game, they could care less about how successful the team is. Purity of the game has been lost. When we stop paying these athletes so much and hold them accountable for their performance then maybe the idea of "team" will return.

I'm not sure I buy that Carson and Willie should be able to "call people out" at this point in the season. Carson was miserable the last two games & Willie was one of about 12 guys to jump off sides at a critical point. They both need to look within a little bit instead of insinuating that nameless players are selfish. From the outside looking in- Chad and TJ should not be their targets. Both guys play hard (and our last 4 wins this year came in large part b/c Chad got the ball more). If Chad asking for the ball is selfish.. it may also be right. Carson is quick to toss it up repeatedly to Chris Henry after drops, but seems to lose faith in Chad. Chad is not T.O. - he has not called out teammates. Carson and Willie should know that calling out nameless "selfish" players puts focus on only a handfull of high profile guys (namely Chad). I think its a bit of a cop-out from two guys (particularly Carson) who clearly didn't play their best games down the stretch.. or even from the Coach- who frankly, should be shouldering a lot of the blame for his in-game decision making.
