Palmer `Air Player' of year nominee

Carson Palmer is one of three finalists for FedEx Air NFL Player of the Year honors.

This season Palmer completed 324 of 520 passes for 4,035 yards and a passer rating of 93.9, and his 28 touchdown passes ranked second in the NFL. He threw for two or more touchdowns in 10 of 16 games and threw for more than 250 yards in eight games. Palmer was nominated for two FedEx Express NFL Player of the Week awards, winning both times.

Palmer won the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Year award last year after claiming FedEx Express NFL Player of the Week honors a league-record five times during the course of the season.

If Palmer wins the award, FedEx will donate $25,000 to Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

Too bad for Childrens Hospital that the Overthrow Player of the Year Award doesn't carry the same dough

Palmer isn't even close to deserving to win this award, although he had a good year.

Over 4000 yards passing, more than ANY Bengal QB, along with a 93% passer rating makes him more than eligible for this award. The guy recovered from MAJOR knee surgery just one year ago... doesn't anyone remember that??? His performance this year was not what kept them from the playoffs... defense (or lack thereof) is to blame.

Justin,

Carson might not win over Peyton Manning, or Drew Brees, but he does deserve nomination.

Keep in mind; many "experts" thought his career was over after the knee injury. Carson's devotion showed, as he played all season.

At times, early on, he did look a bit unsure. In the last game, Carson proved his toughness in the second half, after taking a hard hit, he came back after one play, and had an overall good game.

Carson has definitely earned my respect after all he has been through, and just ended his third year as a starter.

You might want to know all the facts first, Justin, before making such a statement next time.

Carson is a deserving candidate, but there is some merit to Justin's comments. Its very popular to pin all the problems on the defense, but they actually improved a little this year (in ranking not in turnovers) while the offense was markedly worse. While Carson's amazing ability to come back from injury helped put the Bengals in playoff contention- his inability to find or hit open recievers down the stretch was a big reason we didn't get in.
