Lewis should play Henry

Coach Marvin Lewis has prohibited wide receiver Chris Henry from talking to the media, in line with the policy Lewis has for players who are in limbo. Henry has yet to be promoted to the 53-man roster after serving his two-game league suspension.

I don't know how Lewis doesn't play Henry on Sunday against Atlanta. Wide receiver Kelley Washington (hamstring) is out. Antonio Chatman (groin) was downgraded Thursday to doubtful. The "healthy" WRs are starters Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh and rookies Glenn Holt and Reggie McNeal.

Lewis should not be criticized if he plays Henry. Lewis de-activated him once, against New England. Henry has served his two-game suspension. In other words, Henry has paid the price -- so far -- for his transgressions.

Henry should play.

As head coach of an NFL team that is trying to win each week, it is Marvin's job do put the best 53 players on the field. Chris Henry certainly qualifies (probably in the Top 10). If Marvin deactivates him then Marvin is not doing his job. He's big on people doing their jobs, I can't see him not playing Henry.

Henry is a million dollar athlete with a 10 cent head. Henry doesn't deserve to play.

He has done the time for his crime, let me play.

Okay, Henry has served a three game suspension....from a fan's standpoint it's time to play him. It does Henry and it does the team no good to be short handed one of the team's best players when he has done his punishment. If Marvin doesn't play him and it can be reasoned it may have cost us the game, Marvin will have short changed the fans.

Let's not forget the game BEFORE the two-game suspension when Marvin deactivated him.

Agree with you totally.

Sit him the rest of the year. He shouldn't have been in the picture at all this season, should have made arrangements to replace him long ago.

Instead they work this thug into the game plan in the early weeks. Then boom, he's not available and the offense struggles. If they hadn't made him such a part of of things - or had brought in a replacement - things might have gone differently.

He's never going to change, and will only continue to be a problem....

He's a horrible role model for the younger fans. He should sit and Marvin should not put up with his antics any longer. Give him the boot!

It is true that Henry has screwed up several times, I would agree that I believe that he still has to learn that what he does off the field, affects the team on the field. Our Offense has been struggling, but with (3) good receivers out there, someone is going to get open. Henry is that third receiver, and a good receiver he is. Remember the games he has played this year, all great performances. I agree with most of the people on this blog that he has served his time. People do sometimes learn from their mistakes, this kid does want to play, he just has to learn he has to tone down the off field activity. I am sure that they are already doing this, they need to find a replacement for him just in case....

We all know that this "kid" has made terrible choices so far, but I disagree that we should turn our backs on him. He has missed 3 games now and I feel that it is time to get him back in there. In MARVIN we trust!!!!

If he is on your roster, you play him. The issue of him being allowed on the roster is another discussion.

Chris Henry is our most gifted receiver in my opinion. He makes TJ and Chad better. He is not afraid to go up for a ball and get hit (see the steelers game). Plus, Carson Palmer plays much better when Henry is an receiver (we need more of that). I promise ocho-cinqo will get a TD if Henry plays because his presence is enough to warrant extra defensive attention.

he has paid his price! Let him Play! This is football not some political arena. If people are worried about him being a role model for thier kids that is pretty sad. My oppinion be your own kid's role model and do stuff with them. He is not suspended by the NFL, we are paying for him to play, let him play

Players aren't role models. They're employees.

If my boss sent me home because I drank too much on the weekend... well... I would not put in 40 hours a week.

You fans are moroons....he learned his leason? You really think that with all the trouble he's gotten into over the past year that he's actually learned his lessen. You're all drunk with football success that you'll do whatever it takes to win. He's a thug and always will be.

henry should play, he's a huge asset to the team and we need to win.

This is a character issue. Everyone knows the Bengals have had plenty of well... "issues" this year. Coach Lewis needs to lay down the law and have a zero-tolerance policy the rest of the season. Get in trouble and you ride the pine. It shouldn't matter if you are a top 10 receiver or not. Actually, it matters more. If you can't prove yourself to have good character and make the right descisions, you don't deserve to be on the field. It's that simple.

Henry should play Center, Guard, Tackle the rest of the season - sit in the Center of the bench, Guard the water, and Tackle anyone who comes near it.

Don't let this guy be a teacher or a minister..... don't elect him as mayor... don't let him coach your kids or babysit..... But this is just a football game.... He has served his punishment and Marvin should play him..... My kids dont look up to him.... they look up to carson....

Chris has served his punishment...if he messes up again then he is gone for the year. I think that the people need to learn how to understand that NFL players are not role model for children and that they are human too. I say play him this is a big game for the Bengals agianst Atl.

Let him play! As stated before, he was not driving, he only drank too much. He paid his time so let him play. He deserves to be out there with the rest of them and help us win another one!!! WHO DEY! Welcome back Chris Henry!!!

I personally could care less if Henry plays or not since the past few years the bengals have done nothing but let me down. i dont think henry would make a difference playing or not. they need more help than just him. so it doesn't matter. let him play.
