Frazier signed, Rucker to IR, Thurman gone 1 year

The Bengals have just announced the signing of linebacker Andre Frazier, that rookie defensive end Frostee Rucker (shoulder) has been placed on the season-ending injured reserve list and that linebacker Odell Thurman's suspension has been extended to one year.

Rucker suffered the shoulder injury Sept. 13 and was on the team's inactive list for its first three games.

Thurman is eligible to apply for reinstatement prior to the start of training camp next year, Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan said.

Thurman was suspended because of his third violation of the league substance abuse policy. The NFL informed the Bengals of the suspension today.

On Monday, by the time media was allowed in the locker room to talk to players at 3:15, Thurman's locker had been cleaned out. Practice squad offensive lineman Kyle Takavitz was moved into the locker, and linebacker David Pollack -- though out for the season with a broken neck -- regained his locker.

Pollack was in the Bengals trainer's room this morning. He was wearing his halo neck brace.

Just to clarify, does this mean Thurman cannot participate in off-season mini-camps, in-house conditioning and the like?

It's sad to see him Suspened for the rest of the season, but how stupid can one be to get in trouble repeatedly. He deserves his suspnsnsion and should not be paid at all. Don't get me wrong, I love the Bengals!

So where do I return my son's Thurman jersey that he bought with his Christmas money last year? Anybody got his home address? What a waste...

I know what you mean...I just went to the Bengal's ProShop and bought a Odell Thurman Jersey myself. I am too embarassed to wear it again and since I have worn and washed it, I can't return it. Thanks Odell!

I am glad to see Hughes and University of Cincinnati graduate Andre Frazier come back home after a stint on the "dark-side" (Pittsburgh) ....

Its a sad situation. Lets all hope and pray that Odell turns his life around out side of football. Odell have an upbattle of trust and respect to gain. We all have made mistake in life, so I can't talk negative about him. The best thing a fan can do is to encourage him and continue to educate of own kids on the reflection of mistakes.

What a loser.

why would I waste my hopes and prayers on a loser like that?

....just goes to show how a lack of education, poor decision making the "entitlement" that clowns like Thurman think they have, just because they wear an NFL jersey. His parents should be ashamed beyond words of their son.

I have 5 piles of gravel he can help move at a job site if he "thinks" his linebacking job was so tough........

The NFL has no one to blame but them selfs. They continue to get players out of problems that the rest of us would go to jail or prison for. It has gotten so bad players feel they are above the law. Start holding players accountable in the courts and the rest will take notice.

The thing that is so stupid about this whole thing is that he sure as heck could have afforded to call a cab. Issue done, same thing with Henry! I have a drinking problem myself, but will never drive when I have had too much. Not into the bar scene.

These playes who come into sudden wealth, need to understand two things: First, they are role models, wow what a model these guys are!

Second, they have a responsibility to their team, and the community they live/play in to be ready and able to play!

We might as well just cut him now. At least we have some solid depth at linebacker.

Lack of education?
He had an opportunity....high school and a couple of years of college. He chose not to take advantage of his opportunities, talent and gifts. How many guys that didn't get drafted last year and this year would have loved to have been in his shoes.

First of all, it's really sad to think that someone wouldn't want to "waste" a prayer on a loser. I'm sure your a winner indeed. You probably make whom ever you serve very proud (or sick).

And to the other guy with the gravel needs. I believe his parents are dead and so are his grandparents. I'm not saying I agree with what Thurman has done... I don't. He's not a kid either. I'm even glad he got caught on the road. But... ripping him isn't going to do any good now for him or the team.

Dumb? Stupid? Sure. But... we've all got to move on without Odell Thurman (though I hope that even the most pious among us would sink so low to pray for the loser).

Odell you're in my prayers. Go Bengals.

If I'm not mistaken, Thurman's parents are deceased and he was raised by his Grandmother. Let's do a little background check before we bash somebody. It's hard telling what kind of emotional problems he may have. I will say a prayer for him.

Education? Education has nothing to do with it. There are many educated people who get pulled over while driving under the influence. Odell made a huge mistake. Its a shame that people are talking negative about him like they never made a mistake. I am sure some of these negative people made worse mistakes.

Well put; I was about to write the same thing. I am disappointed in Odell, but also in the radical reaction of our fans. We all have friends or family who have fallen under similar circumstances. The national spotlight does not rid athletes of being human or making mistakes. I think Odell will have a great career, and this is the wakeup call he needed.

I am a very close person to Odell. First of all I would like to say Odell's parents are deceased and he was raised by his paternal grandmother his father and his stepmother. We are all saddened with what Odell has done but he has to pay for his actions. We do not uphold him in this and we have never upheld him. What we are doing and what everyone needs to do is pray positive prayers for this child and keep him held up before God. This is Odell's life and whatever way he choose to live it is his buisness. No need for the BASHING!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Thurman made a mistake just as Mr. Huggins did. I didnt read all this hate when Mr. Huggins got busted. Its funny reading the stupid things stupid fair weather fans say. Half of you idiots are jealous, quit living your life through sports teams. Hopefully he can move his life in a positive direction and learn from his mistakes.

Now... what about Chris Henry? He was flying under the radar (back seat) when Thurman was arrested.

Henry has been ARRESTED FOUR TIMES and CONVICTED TWO TIMES, avoiding jail time so far. He pleaded guilty to marijuana possession in northern Kentucky, and this month pleaded guilty to a weapon charge in Orlando, Fla.

Does this jail bird fly get away with more antics? Henry needs at least a one year unpaid vacation.

What about that Marvin?

What I can quite understand is that there is no discussion on Chris Henry. He's been arrested what, 4 times? His probabtion states he is to not touch alcohol, yet he's puking out the window of the car after it was stopped. Lewis has come out pretty hard on Thurman, but hasn't said a word about Henry. Maybe it's because of Henry's 5 catches and 2 TD's in Sunday's game. I've just lost a little respect in Lewis because it seems obvious you can get away with about anything on this team as long as the league doesn't come down on you.
