Georgetown segment of camp ends
GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Bengals wrapped up the Georgetown College segment of training camp this afternoon and will resume camp-like practices next week at Paul Brown Stadium. ... “Nothing changes,” Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. “Because of our (preseason game) schedule, we’re leaving here and going to go back, and based on when we have games, we’ll still have two-a-day practices and still work the way we work here.
“We have a transition period to make at some point, and this is the best time to make it.” ... Some of the on-air talent for NBC Sports watched Bengals practice today. The network will broadcast the preseason opener Sunday night from the stadium. John Madden and former Bengals wide receivers Cris Collinsworth were among the network people at practice. Look for the network to feature linebacker Ahmad Brooks, who was interviewed after practice. ... Cornerback Deltha O’Neal (knee) returned to practice after missing several days of on-field work. Starting right guard Bobbie Williams (knee) also returned. Whether he plays Sunday is not known. Middle linebacker Brian Simmons (left leg) practiced again on the wet field. Quarterback Carson Palmer was on the field for the practice in the rain. Wide receiver Chris Henry (hamstring) did not practice.

As a fan, how can you not love Marvin Lewis? After today's final Georgetown College practice, Lewis patiently signed autographs for at least twenty minutes, signing and posing for pictures for every single fan making a request. The man is an absolute model of humility and integrity. Jason Whitlock can say that Marvin's ego has exploded if he wants, but I say his piece on espn.com was a`pile of unmitigated horse dung. I can recall no NFL head coach in the` last thirty-eight years as generous with his time as Lewis.

I agree with the poster 100%. It has been a true joy as a Bengals fan to watch Lewis these last few years. I mean really, what more could you ask for from your coach? He has been a fantastic presence in the community and has transformed the Bengals from laughingstock to perennial contender. Aside from Belicheck, what other coach would you rather have prowling the Bengals' sideline?
And a huge thank to Mark for all the posts from G-Town. Great use of the blog to give behind the scenes looks at camp.
Who Dey!
By the way, the video clips posted each day are very insightful and well produced. It gets at some of the core but less public issues that the Bengals have - like whether Justin Smith is producing appropriately for the money invested. Please do these again next year!!
