Cornerback Leon Hall is latest Bengals player

For the second year in a row the Bengals selected a cornerback in the first round. He is Michigan cornerback Leon Hall.

Hall had 45 tackles, three interceptions and 15 passes broken up.

He is 5-11 1/4, 193 pounds and is known for playing the ball well in the air and coming up on run support.

He adds depth at cornerback behind projected starters Johnathan Joseph and Deltha O'Neal.

The Bengals were 30th in the NFL in total defense and tied for last (31st) in pass defense.

TERRIBLE! I like picking D but this kid gets toasted by any reciever who is any good. I guess he should fit right in with the Bengals.

Mark,
I like how you said Leon Hall will add depth to the defensive backfield b/c that is exactly what the Bengals need. I think Hall and Ratliff will be nice backups for the bengals and even for any team in the NFL.

I am so happy with this pick -- a need was filled with a great player. Congrats to the Bengals for their patience.

I believe the Bengals picked the best person available to them. They desperately needed a CB and they received a good one.

-You obviously have not seen this kid play very much. He is a solid CB with high character and work ethic. On a side note any corner would get "toasted" by Ginn Jr, and Jarrett, both excellent WR.

We just drafted the next Kewein Ratliff. This team should have traded down or drafted Griffen, who fills a need at safety and give them the physical presence they have not had there since Fulcher.

Anonymous' comment shows why football people make the picks. He's basing his comment on one game when Ted Ginn had a good game against Hall. You have to look at his whole body of work at Michigan. He's got 4.39 speed and is a great leaper. He had 43 pass deflections and 12 interceptions. He has the ability to get into the backfield. High character guy. Great pick by the Bengals

Mark,
Why dont the Bengals have any foresight?Cleveland used a little gumption and got what they wanted,(Joe Thomas and Brady Quinn)but the team they traded with got Cleveland's 2nd round pick and the Brown's first round pick next year. That could have been the Bengals. They could have selected a CB just as good or better than Hall with Cleveland's second and still had their 2nd round pick plus 2 1st round picks next year.Typical mike clown and his sad sack organization.

I like Hall's character and his game is not bad, I just like some other's game better. And I'm not basing it off of the Ohio St. game. Just feel we could have traded down and drafted Ross, who I think we be just as good, or drafted Griffen to give us an enforcer in the middle of the field.

Seems like a sound pick, especially since guys like Joeseph are maybe just one "that's not my gun/weed/pipe, officer" away from some time off. Also, couldn't this kid play safety too?

So much for Griffin, huh? Where'd he go? Oh that's right, the VERY NEXT PICK.
