Graham 41-yard FG gives Bengals 20-3 lead

KANSAS CITY -- Quarterback Trent Green suffered a blow to his head with a doubtful return to the game, according to the official word in the Arrowhead Stadium press box.

Green was hit hard Bengals defensive end Robert Geathers on a scramble with 4:40 left in the third quarter. Green was said to have feeling in his extremities and was moving. He was still in the stadium.

The Bengals ate another 4:37 in clock, driving 35 yards in nine plays to set up Shayne Graham's second field goal, from 41 yards.

The Chiefs took possession with 11:28 left in the fourth quarter at their 38-yard line. Damon Huard is playing quarterback with Green out.

The last sack for the Bengals, initially credited to Domata Peko, was by Bryan Robinson. Robinson, Geathers, Justin Smith and John Thornton, all defensive linemen, have all four sacks.

The Bengals have allowed only one of Carson Palmer.

I just read the quotes from the Bengals/Chiefs game, and my question is, am I the only person who finds the Bengals, (and Carson Palmer's comments in particular), a little ironic? The whole team is suddenly circling the wagons around Robert Geathers with statements such as "Knowing Robert, he's not a guy who likes to take cheap shots or really ever does take cheap shots. He was trying to make a tackle, he kind of got (blocked) low, almost like he fell into him. When you're 280 pounds and you're falling into a quarterback, something bad's going to happen. There's nothing you can do in that situation." Hmmm...doesn't this describe exactly what happened when Carson was injured. It appears that a lightbulb just went off ...HITS HAPPEN in the NFL. Will this finally put to rest the the incessant talk about Kimo Von Oelhoffen's hit in the 2006 playoffs and what could have been for our Bengals? Kimo Von Oelhoffen was getting blocked, falling down, and trying to make a tackle just as Carson Palmer stated that Robert Geathers was attempting to do. I do not believe in either case, that Kimo or Robert Geathers tried to intentionally deliver a "cheap shot" to knock out their opposition's QB and put an end to their promising seasons. (Although Robert looked like he initially was excited about jarring the ball loose until he saw that Trent Green was not moving.) Football is a contact sport and, like it or not, injuries are a fact of the game. I am relieved to hear that Trent Green's injury is not as bad as originally believed, and I hope to see him back in the lineup soon. He is a class act and a heckuva of a good pro bowl QB. I am also very happy to see that Carson Palmer was able to make such a quick recovery and return to his quarterbacking duties in an effort to compete for the AFC North Championship again. Good Luck Chiefs, Good Luck Bengals! And remember, it is only a game.
