Bengals draft WR Henry in third round

By Mark Curnutte
Enquirer staff writer

In the third round, with the 83rd overall choice, the Bengals drafted former West Virginia wide receiver Chris Henry.

He is tall, at 6-feet-4, and had 52 receptions and 12 touchdowns in 2004. He had a 16.2-yard average per catch.

Henry, as an early-entry junior, is considered a raw talent. There are questions about Henry's maturity, and even some of his Mountaineers teammates questioned it. He is considered a first-round talent but dropped because of potential character and maturity issues.

The Bengals might release sixth-year wide receiver Peter Warrick, who is due to make a base salary of $2.2 million, in 2005 if he can't recover from knee and shin injuries. There are questions whether Warrick's knee problems are arthritic in nature.

Although Warrick is rehabing and somewhat expensive, the Bengals should try to hold on to him. He is the only personon the rouster who has a championchip at evry level, except in the N.F.L. He is one of the greatest #2 receivers in football. and in my opinion is worth evry penny. People need to remember he is a wonderfull returner also that brings his need status way up.

Peter Warrick, one of the best #2 receivers in football? You have to be kidding me. How many mishandled punts and dropped passes does Warrick get before we wake up? How many incorrect routes does he run before we realize he just not that good? It's amazing what the fans of Cincinnati have come to accept as good. Adios Peter!

I think the Bengals may have made a mistake drafting Chris Henry --- He was a CANCER in the WVU locker room and hopefully he is not that way as a pro. I read that he only scored a 9 on the wonderlic test which was the lowest of all wide receivers. He may prove everybody wrong, but I doubt it. Does the name REGGIE REMBERT ring any bells with the Bengals Faithful???

trading peter warrick would be a mistake. he broke his leg last year and people forget the kansas city game. he was the clear starter at the end of marvins first season. he is good lets not let him go and take a step backwards then sing henry and maybe take the same step forewards.

Peter Warrick is a poor excuse for a #2. Donald Driver was taken in the same draft in the last round and has outperformed Warrick in every stat. He has even gone to the Pro-Bowl. Warrick should be let go.

Peter Warrick is a very talented deceptive ball carrier with a great ability to adjust to the ball in the air on deep routes. He does not cause trouble and I can't remember him mishandling one punt. I remember he put up with poor blocking during horrible Roberts reign as special teams coach. Blocking is better he could really take off this year I would not want to miss it. If he is still hurt I think he is cut but if he is not hurt he will take off this year. Donals Driver is very good you are right, but look who throws to him.
